Extra Small
50cm Seat Tube x 52cm Top Tub with 650c wheels. Way too small for me, it is listed in the for sale section. Need to order some new tubulars.
Has anyone found any matching touch up paint?

^ I'm not sure why you're in the game of making replicas, seems to be enough fakes out there without needing to add to it.
IMO the carbon fork and stumpy threadless stem with spacers let this build down. The Michelin tyres look a bit pedestrian on a racing bike, some nice gumwalls would look the part, not to mention aligning the tyre labels with the valves.

It's a replica, not a fake - with honesty being the difference. The chevrons are intentionally incorrect, as is the addition of a carbon fork and a 1990 livery on a 1998 frame. It won't win prizes, but it'll make a Merckx fan very happy, and that's why I'm in the game of restoring and reimagining bikes from this and other great brands.
Genuinely sorry that you don't like it, I try to build beautiful things that will be loved for what they are.

My first Merckx! Bought it this weekend, looking forward to it's arrival.
1985 Corsa Extra with DA 7400, got it from the second owner.

Glad I wasn't asking for your approval mate, or the work that went into bringing a dead frame back to life would have been completely wasted!

It's all very lofty and impressive, until one scrutinizes it and realizes there isn't any provenance to back up the claims about the "pro rider" who had the frame custom made. Plus, I've seen one of these extended seattube Merckx frames before, so I'm not convinced they're as exclusive as Millified would like you to believe.
They're also evasive about explaining that the carbon fork and color-matched bits are their own non-original additions. You're essentially buying a repainted Merckx frame - not even with its original fork - for big money to cover the expenses of the restomod, even though the frameset itself is now less valuable due to the loss of originality and factory fork.
While such a bike may be exactly what someone wants - and if it is, all the power to them - I don't believe in overhyped ad copy to mislead buyers into a purchase.

I saw this guy Saturday with a 7-Eleven model, but I think it was one of the more recent reproductions. Looks kind of odd with Aheadset and big profile rims.

Panasonic: maybe it is worth replacing the Columbus SLX sticker with an earlier version and consider removing the gold Corsa Extra sticker - judging by the brake bridge model, this is Eddy Merckx Pro SLX. OMG - I would like to have both in my collection... beautiful.

You have dated my Pan in that other amazing thread of yours:
P8X Z5736: P - EMC employee designation (always 'not correctly' in the 1980s - upside down or lying - to avoid confusion with "poorly" visible R, which meant Reynolds 531); 8 - frame size (48 or 58); X - Columbus SLX; Z5736 - serial number (production late 1985 or early 1986; model is Eddy Merckx Pro SLX (later renamed Corsa Extra).

Enjoyed seeing the photos and information in this thread about Eddy Merckx bikes. The first bike I ever bought for myself was an EM. I bought it at a LBS near the University of Virginia in the mid 1970's. I can't find any information online about it though. Any recommendations on where to find information on vintage EM bikes.

Here's a good place to start:
Eddy Merckx Serial Numbers
Then you can post up here with photos (especially of the bottom of the BB shell) and we have a guy who is very knowledgeable. His handle is @CyclesMakaron, you can PM him to point him to the thread.

nomadmax: just not cadre.org, please.
DC Bike Blogger: If your bike dates back to the mid-70s, it's not the production of the Meise factory (or Eddy Merckx Cycles). There are producers at stake who I appreciate in the thread: Eddy Merckx license dummies.

It was blue with yellow lettering, and the bike in this photo is the closest I've been able to find based on my memory.

I also thought I'd try contacting the bike shop where I bought it. They are a small locally-owned shop that's still in business, and they might possibly still have some business records from back then in an old spiral notebook or dusty cardboard box.
