Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It perished in a fire at a local mechanic's shop. Sad.

Ye olde minivan is due for a new grille, it won't be long before I won't be able to open the hood because of the way the release lever is attached.

Oooh, they're only $75 on eBay, I think the ripoff pick-a-part in Glendale wants more than that for 'em, unfortunately the eBay ones don't come with the highly coveted Pontiac emblem.

I had a 1956 VW that someone traded to me for work on another car. It had a 1.2L engine which was rated @36 horsepower but as tired as mine was it had to be below that.
It could get to 60mph eventually. A friend was driving it while I worked on his car and he got drunk and crashed it.

My kids playroom has been converted to my bike workshop for this week.

Can’t wait to see when this bad boy is done.

Our '72 Super Beetle is said to have made 60 hp from it's 1600cc engine. It was not fast.

Mine was so slow that people would honk at me when taking off from a traffic light even if I was wide open throttle. I had a Ford that was slower, though.

It was a 53 Ford flathead V8 with 2 cylinders that had very low compression. Plus, it was an automatic. Probably the slowest car I ever had. I traded it to a transmission shop owner for a rebuilt transmission which was a Christmas gift to a friend.

Just about as fast as a Porsche 356 from '63: 11.1 sec 0-60 mph

very sad. my second car was a Triumph Herald. The smaller brother of the Vitesse. It was fun but with a 1.2L engine far, far from fast.

Maybe the name, Triumph, was a clue.

I rode with a group on I-19 this morning.

It’s either the interstate or this road. We ride the interstate.
