Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah I've seen that before and thought about getting one. But IMHO that's really only useful for a shop where the air hose is out there all the time and they're filling bike tires all the time.

For me even just opening the regulator to fill the hose with air, and then pulling the hose out from the ceiling reel is still going to take longer than hooking up my floor pump and giving the tire 3 or 4 pump strokes.

Was time for shoes, wanted to try Sidi shoes with a carbon sole and heel retention system. Sat on these till they finally came down to about
the same as Dominator's cost. My new shoes are Sidi Eagle 6 Carbon Euro Edition:

I use MTB shoes on the road, so the color, which I love, will stay sharp for awhile.
black Sidi shoes look great too, but couldn't pass up the features of the Eagle 6s and I like to be different.

Got these insoles on sale too. Not sure if I even need them, but with wanting a carbon sole shoe
with heel retainers, I wanted to try insoles that you heat too. Honestly the Sidi feel just great, the cliche
is true, they fit like a glove on your feet.
Will try heating, fitting the Louis Garneau insoles this weekend.
If anybody has tips about these insoles or others like these that are heated in the overn, please post.
Any help will be appreciated. Hard to believe you could improve the feel of my Sidis, I'll see if these are an improvement.

Recent Upgrades

Latest upgrades/adds to my 2012 TREK Madone 6.9 OCLV2 58cm H2 Geo;

1) Vittoria EVO Corsa CX 700x23 Tires w/Latex tubes ($)
2) Bontrager RXXXL Carbon Ergo Bar set ($$)
3) Bontrager RXXXL Paradigm Carbon Seat ($$)

Just installed last Sat and no chance to ride out yet due to weather, have high expectations for the appeal/comfort and performance of all three upgrades.

I see you also have a 2011 Specialized Roubaix SL3, which I understand to be a great bike. Are you picking up the Tarmac because you find the Roubaix lacking some characteristic you desire, or you just want a Tarmac regardless?

I love my Roubaix, for everyday rides, longer distances

Tarmac is a different animal, more a race bike, lighter stiffer, yet not harsh.... I had a Cervelo before the Roubaix and wanted something that responds like that did, so now I have both, I will sell my old Scattante with the wheels from the Tarmac and get some money back (Tarmac was on nationwide sale also, still is)

So now you have to carry a star drive wrench on your rides? Or will a hex wrench fit that?

How often does your stem become loose? I don't carry either with me on rides.

If you were really concerned, just switch them out for regular hex head bolts. I believe 3T switched these out as their way of addressing all the complaints about the older supplied bolts stripping too easily. When I read all those concerns, I just ordered a few bolts from a supplier.

Getting ready for the 9070 Di2 upgrade parts that are on the way, the BarFly 2.0 has a spot underneath for the front junction box...

Can't beat that price for a saddle, I wonder why they called it Vader? Because Its attached to your 'dark side'?

During the last month ive gone on a little shopping spree . Dont have everything yet on my possession but I cant wait for all of it to arrive. The following items are.

1) Kask Vertigo Special KOM
2) Fizik Microtex Double tape
3) Red Hudz
4) Shimano RS80 Wheelset
5) Michellin Pro4 Endurance Tires
6) Ultegra Cassette

Next up is a new set of gloves since my Castelli Rosso Corsa desintegrated and maybe a new kit when I lose an extra 10 to 15 lbs.

This hobby is awesome! (expensive though)
