I ordered the mountain morph, though I am a dyed in the wool Zefal user for my road bikes. This mtb stuff is a new animal. I did it very sparingly in the 90s, with a friend from the city. I thought about just using one of my hpx3s but I couldn’t make it fit on the frame. Also, I’m more likely to find myself miles from nowhere on an mtb, a thing I don’t give a thought to out on the road. Vamos a ver

I think 30 would be high enough and you could go up or down depending. I like low pressure especially in the front.

tubeless is the way for a low pressure, high volume tire. its sorta dumb for road IMO, or at least has more challenges and less advantages compared to MTB

10th / 13 starters in Three Villages A race, man what a hard course. I wanted some steady hard pedaling but this was basically three 4-5' zone 5 / zone 6 climbs with coasting in the middle. I pulled the plug on the last one and solo'd in at sweet spot. I'm wrecked.

I don't know the courses in Makuri islands so well.... I will remember this one!

It's a nice, high quality groupset, but it's too fancy to appeal to racers and if they didn't want it, it wouldn't catch on with other roadies. This makes it perfect for C&V, a good part of which is the look. That it also performs is icing on the cake!

The way it's built up right now, it's as close to "showroom" as possible. Everything on it, with a few small exceptions, is correct. So, it is what I intended to make. I did swap the 35 year old brake pads for newer Dura Ace pads, and the I swapped out the 21 and 23 tooth cogs for 22 and 26. And of course the tires are WAY better than the originals!

I'm really curious how it will feel! I loved the ride and performance of the 22" bike, so I've got high hopes. But there are some issues I may need to address. First, the bars - 40 cm Giro d'Italias are quite a change from 44cm Highway Ones. And although the seat tube is 1" longer than the 22" frame, the top tube is only about 1/2" longer. I'd been running a 135mm stem, and it's now got a 100. So, the reach to the bar will be shorter. OTOH, the Cinelli bars have a longer reach, so maybe it all works out? The bars are nearly an inch higher, and that was the biggest issue.

Second, the seatpost is as high as it goes and will be significantly lower than I'm used to. OTOH, I just calculated the LeMond Method saddle height (cycling inseam x 0.883) and it's spot on for that. Then there's the saddle, which is a Rolls. Considered very comfy BITD, but as we used to say, it's like the Gettysburg Hotel - No ballroom. That is, no recess or cutout. This was a problem when the bars were 2 cm lower, but perhaps with a lower saddle and higher bars, I won't find myself having to pick a side when in the drops?

So, by next month, it may have a longer seatpost and a different saddle, as well as a longer stem and the Highway One bars. I want this one for riding, not just for show.

I was just looking at the original spec for the 1989 Circuit:
Tires: Schwinn Prologue, 700 x 19C.

19? Yeah, DEFINITELY not going with Showroom Stock for those! Imagine - 1989 clinchers in 19mm, pumped to 125 psi....

This calculation surely also is for racers. The one time I was fitted for a new bike, I was sold a painfully small frame. I never got comfortable on that bike. It was a 56. After, I rode 58 for years, and now ride 60 and 62. Unlike most, it seems, as I get older I ride larger frames. I am 1.8 meters tall, with similar inseam.
