The metric century was the hardest century I have done in a long time. Crazy how a month of 30 mile rides, your body adapts and it did not want to go beyond 40 miles. The wall I usually hit at mile 80 I hit at mile 45.
Was planning on 100, but the old adage everything happens for a reason plays into this. Basically had a hard time getting up, and when I finally got going my garmin didn’t want to connect to my madone. I spent way too long dealing with that, and when I finally got going I didn’t have the time left for the 100 miles. Doesn’t matter, I’m not sure I would have been able to complete it at the pace I chose.
Madone rode great, I forgot how fast that bike felt, and I must be getting strong becuase I was using cogs that I have never used before on a solo ride. In the past I stayed basically on the 6 cog for majority of the ride. Today I was on 8 most of the ride and at times 9 and 10.
Take the madone 2.0 out tomorrow for the first time. Shifting isn’t perfect, but I think it’s good enough to ride it. Took it for a short test ride, it handles really smooth. Almost feels like a steel bike. Not sure if it’s the carbon post or over engineered. Only thing I currently want to change are the bars. Hoping I can take it to the bike shop tomorrow at some point to get the shifting fixed and get it circumcised.

Simon hates his car seat. I have decided for him that he is banned from any vehicle that I occupy. Exceptions, Doctors appointments.

My theory about the slow traffic revolves around everyone being engrossed in Major League Baseball. It makes sense since it's our national past time.

Hiding out in the basement for the second time in 5 days. Tornados, hail, winds... Oh My! Sirens, phone alerts, TV ESA, even my alarm system is making strobing sounds.
Just waiting for it to pass through. TV is showing tornado videos from the area.
Edit: All clear.

So, this place -- Bike Shop, Bikes & Bike Accessories | The-House -- is having a liquidation sale. Got some rims for a bike I'm building for Mrs. rjones28 for less than $50.
