What's the thinking behind that? I don't get where the value could be.

It wound up 185w fwiw and even that felt like basically nothing. I believe the logic is 1) that since for the past few weeks I hadn't done a ride longer than like 1.5hrs I need to ease my legs back into volume, and 2) I tend to gravitate to the top of whatever target power range he gives me and he knows this, so I think he plays it conservative.

Im in this group as well. I've never been one to add easy volume just for volume's sake. If you just like being on your bike that's one thing I guess, but a ride like that would make me quit half way through and hate whoever told me to do it.

5 hours cruising down to Storm King Mountain, TKP's favorite road. Cut through Stewart state forest (MTB mecca) on the return, which was fun, carriage roads on road bikes. Burned a lot of calories.

while TKP is starting to train for real I think i'm going to take a more relaxed approach over the next few weeks, especially during the week. i'm taking some time off from work around xmas and ny so I'll probably jump back into things then.
in other words - i'm not ready for trainer season yet.

I used to live over there, and had a night route I'd do that would pass the entrance road to the art's center. Good riding up that way.

Orr's Mills Rd, right? We also rode past the Moodna Viaduct which was cool, and for the next hour we tried to remember what movie it was featured in. We did eventually remember the movie, then spent the rest of the ride trying to remember the exact movie title, which we never did, until I just now looked it up.

yeah I used to do a night ride there and the train at night looked a million feet up and like it was floating on air.

I'd love to drive up near Bear Mountain and ride north to those roads before the end of the year.
I did squats and deadlifts last night because I had a few minutes before picking up the kid at daycare, and I can barely walk down the steps today.

2x30' sweet spot. 1:50 in all, 130tss. I also feel like this week is the start of 2016 training. Time to make a new file in Golden Cheetah.

After 3 hours of MTB singletrack on Monday, a 5 hour road ride yesterday, and a cross race today, I feel a bit beaten up. Rain tomorrow, phew!
