Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

41iers gush about them all the time... well, those that aren't complaining about blown/shredded sidewalls.

They do ride nicely, are pretty good when it comes to puncture resistance (other than the sidewalls) and they wear well. Many swear by them but some just seem to hit a rash of bad luck with them and then, not surprisingly, will swear them off and move on to one of the many other options out there.

Where in PA? This is "down the shore" season so many people in my neck of the woods are on vacation. Next month will be even better for those of us who live in Philly and don't go down the shore. Places like movies and restaurants will be less crowded. Great time to ride a bike through the city at night.

That was my Canon G1X compact. I'd rented a Fuji XE2S to demo over the weekend, but returned it. That bike race photo was with the Fuji.

We're doing a tandem rally the next three days out of Manheim.

The big, fast teles look like fun, but they're just not the tool of choice for the way I like to shoot. Got a 35/1.4 or 21/2.8 Distagons in there someplace? That's more drool-worthy to me.

It wasn't written in allcaps, so it can't be.

Now that @trekmogul is here, maybe he can confirm my suspicion that the all-caps thing is a result of copy/paste. I mean, it's all caps on the LW website and who wants to remember how to spell all of that out?

I have the worlds fastest 50mm lens in the form of a Leica Noctilux F/0.95 50MM that is quite worthy of a few MEILENSTEINS..

That's right - you're more of a Leica guy. The Noctilux is cool, but I'm not a fan of the 50mm FoV. Com'on man - in both wheels and lenses, wider is where it's at!

Since today's tour stage is so short, NBC seems to be trying to squeeze as much commercial time in as race coverage.

Doubt you will find many Starbuck's type people in that part of PA. Bring plenty of water with you. Lancaster County can be really hot and steamy this time of year, and corn provides no shade. The Lancaster Bike Club has their club century in August. A couple thousand people. One reason I stopped doing it was the heat and humidity.

Will you be riding through Mt. Gretna? Neat little place with some cool houses. Many of the streets are named after universities. The historic Jigger Shop is a must-see.

So for those of you posting pics, how are you doing it?

Photobucket remains broken I assume?

Every time I try the attachment feature, I get an error message, so no dice there.

Does @Trsnrtr use Flickr? How does that work?

@trekmogul, your wheel thread confused me, I didn't read the whole thing. Do you buy all those Treks just to have them for display, not to ride them? But you ride some other bike?
