Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tornado warning sirens just went off. It looks like it's going to be one of those nights.

The sky is a lovely shade of green, though.

I would think that's a soup of churned grass and tree leaves.

Spent an hour in the family room in the basement till the storms passed through and the tornado warning cleared. Tornado that was supposedly spotted was about 20 miles NW of us and coming our way but fizzled before it got here so all we got was heavy rain and light hail. They did clock 70 mph winds at the peak.

All and all, pretty generic July storm.

Flikr's editor is being replaced so I cannot add descriptions right now.

Odometer read 822 miles at the end, which included trips to grocery stores, etc. I think it was running a hair over depending on which mile marker you believed, so I will to say total mileage was likely between 780 and 800.

That sunset photo at the lake with the mountains in the background was taken close to 10 p.m. on the solstice. It stays light out late at that time of year.
very nice.

So this evening they posted the split times for yesterday's TT.

Guess who rode the most even splits of the day? Yours truly. Splits were within 3 seconds of each other.

Usually the return leg is slower on this course because it's uphill. I was assisted by a tail wind on the way back, which made even splits easier, it kind of equalized the two legs of the course.

But still: 3 seconds! That's some pretty even pacing. Happy with that, the data makes me geeky. ❤️
