Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Del Dios is a very tough ride. Not a place you want to get stuck on with back pain.

You are more than welcome, if you can keep up.....if you can't, it means you are not moving at all. I am always looking for someone to ride with.

Cheers,

I am so jealous. The Ramona-Palomar Mtn-Ramona or the Santa Ysabel-Borrego loop are nice rides as well. You can stop at the Julian Pie Company and grab a slice of mid-ride (or post ride) pie. Those rides both have some serious climbs.

I would love to do something like that, but those roads are so narrow and twisty. Always some dude on a motorcycle killing himself out there. Lots of traffic on the 78 heading out to Ramona with sheer cliffs and switchbacks.

Yeah, I hear you. I road it 13 years ago when I was on Spring break as an undergrad. It wasn't too busy because we road it in the morning during the week. It was pretty nice starting at 80 deg (F) in Ramona and seeing snow at the top of Palomar.

I received an email since I'm on Swami's that Peter Sagan and I think his brother too will be riding with Swami's on the Saturday ride and will be doing a press thing afterwards with signings n stuff.

I am going to check that ride out. Seems like fun. However, I heard that the Swami group rides are not for novices. So if you havent been training, it will be a hard ride to keep up. But I will have to try it out since a Pro is coming out to ride! =D
