I don't like it when people leave.

Just putting that out there. I realize that this is a weird time of year and lots of little stresses come out and make people react differently, but some of us have complicated real lives.

Real life ebbs and flows and I find myself in a place where a considerable portion of my RL friends have deserted the area in which I live. Consequently I look to places like this for a greater percentage of my social contact than it had been at times in the past. This may be stupid to some, but there are reasons for it (most of which are too complicated or personal or boring to speak of).

It may seem like it should not matter when one decides to simply abandon one's presence here. After all, it's just the internet.

But consider this: Every one of the posts represents a human being on the other side.

/end serious.

Back from Disney. Had a really great time -- amazing place. Happy to get back on the bike today.

I got food poisoning on our last day. Ugh. I really could have used dual toilets for a bit there.

I'm sorta in the same boat. I moved to my wife's home town. The social network here seems to be based on golf, Budweiser, and UGA football. I've pretty much struck out on all three of those. Being a guy with shaved legs riding a bike and not really giving a damn about UGA doesn't leave much to talk about at the kids birthday parties. I work in a basement office and don't have a water cooler to mill about. This is my virtual water cooler.

Big John, what brand of cars do you recommend avoiding at all cost? I'm really digging the Cadillac CTS V, but I'm not going to get one. Curious if it would be a money pit after 3 years though.

That's what you get for eating at Disney..

I wish I knew you were in Floriduh. I would have made it a point to go to Orlando to visit and meet the myth in person.

They're even fighting on the 50+ forum, regulars against each other. I know, I was shocked, too. A little geezer on geezer action, there.
A little of it may have been brought on by pcad stirring things up, however.

Oh we do, we do. We just don't want to get DQ'd by the mods for blocking in the sprint.

I think they have a 5 year bumper to bumoer warranty? Can check later, if you want. I primarily deal with engine electronics on Chevrolets, but I have to run right now.

I saw the 2 door at a car show a month ago. Need to upload pictures from the show, but it looked sweet. I might have just been looking at the model.

I don't mind people leaving because everything changes, however in the reasons why people leave concerns me more. If someone just wants to move on and not post here any more then so be it, but when it's over conflict that can be resolved then it saddens me. There's nothing "stupid" about using sites like these as a means of social contact because I've always viewed internet socializing as an extension of what we do in "real life" only on a different medium. I've met people from BF and have had great experiences, this site made it easier to connect with other local riders that I otherwise would not have made.

The twitter feed has been the most "personal" thread I've read through in my few years on BF and I hope that doesn't change because there's a sense of familiarity here; reminds me of Cheers for some reason. For what it's worth I enjoy posting here and find the crew here funny, interesting and very knowledgeable. Good luck trying to get rid of me now.

Psimet says I need an FTP test. What does File Transfer Protocol have to do with cycling, aside from Garmin files?

Not sure, but I'm still trying to figure out why people go on LSD training rides when riding a bike is the last thing I'd want to do if I were high on LSD.

Pro Tip: If the software you plan to run on a server needs a hardware USB license key to work, don't run it on a Blade.

VOmax stands for "Volume of Ow, maximum." (you don't need to put the little 2 in there)

it's the most Ow-ey, but at least you can count the minutes down to three or five and be done with it. Making it through the eternity that is FTP is a whole different kind of "**** this".

Maybe the 2 should go above so it's volume of ow, squared.

AWC = absolute worst condition

this is how you feel after a successful AWC test, but it's over so fast that it's more like getting hit by a truck.

In my FTP test yesterday, I got about 8 minutes in, was already in severe pain, knew I couldn't maintain the numbers, but I figure I shouldn't "waste" the pain I've already gone through, and that I just have to finish. I hate wasting pain.

Thanks. I hope it is from inexperience and technique/timing. It doesn't help that most of my attempts distance people on flats have been on the group rides around here which always have 2s and lots of 3s.
