Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks folks.
@Heathpack, I actually decided to stop and smell the roses on the way down, and snap some pictures. The road is really so bad, that a quick descent isn't possible.

This race is just one of those things I would love to do well on, but just turns into a fight with myself. I was wondering what would happen to my drop bag if I didn't make it up to fetch it, just stuff like that. I took 9 minutes off my best, and I plan on taking that much or more off next year.

Not sure, but maybe they'll forget about it after a few beers.

Mara Abbott is a climbing machine. She went by me like I was standing still, and there is really just nothing to her. Built for that purpose, in regards to bike racing.

There's a $20 helmet waiting for me in Ohio. I;ll be there Tuesday, to pick it up. Didn't want to push my luck, so didn't buy one yesterday while in the city.

I think I'll let it simmer for a bit, then fire out a semi-tasteful lowball offer. Complain about the wheels, the bars and the lack of Italian components.

Not cobbler per se. It's more that cobbler-induced paunch.

One of my Nightcrawler friends has kinda wanted to do the Leadville MTB race for awhile now. Haha but she thinks the lottery for an entry is kind of cheating, she only wanted in if she qualified in a race. So she went up and raced the Tahoe 100. Wound up second in her class because she rode the final five miles with a dead flat front tire. Almost hit a bear.

But she qualified.

I only get dropped by the very best.

Totally. I need to get an aero roadbike with clip-on bars for all of the straight flatlander rides I go on.

MTBing tomorrow, so elevation gonna happen.
