It's an IRO Angus, so no pictures on this thread. It's on here somewhere though.

And since it's the wrong thread, I'll just link a picture.

Only it has a silver thomson seatpost now.

Scrod,

I know you've got the the Velo Orange stem, but I only see a 1 1/8" option on the website. Did you have to shim it for the 1" steerer tube on the Kilo fork?

Also, how long is your particular stem?

It's shimmed. I got the shim from VO when I ordered the stem. It's 70mm/6 degree.

You get it threaded? Or are you running threadless?

I'm contemplating picking one of the frames up and threading the fork. The only thing holding me back is the 26.8mm seatpost. Unless I could find someone to trade with. I really don't want to have to buy another $60+ seatpost. Everything else is swap-able, though.

I would go with a 55 or 57 I am 5'9 with a 30 inseam but i have long arms so the 60 works fine for me.

I was sifting through this thread, trying to gather up intel and just look at some pretty Kilos... I have to give props to this one. Probably my favorite of the whole bunch. ****ing love it.

AAAAAnyhoooo... So I think I'm getting a Kilo frame. I'd been eying other stuff, like an IRO angus or a Soma rush, but I think I'd rather get a less expensive frame that I can ride and lock up around town stress-free. I can use the leftover cash for a new stem (thinking I'd like to rock a quill stem with it, but not sure yet) and seatpost.

So, the fit thing. I'm 5'8" with 30.5" inseam. My current frame is a 51 cm Scrambler and it feels just a LITTLE cramped. The same frame in 53 cm would be perfect. From what I've read here, Kilos run large so I'm guessing instead of a 53 cm, I would get a 50 cm.... amirite?

I also used the fit calculator at the Competitive Cyclist site and the results seem to point towards the same answer.

Thoughts? Impart some wisdom

They actually don't "run big."

They are just sized c-c. So measure your scrambler c-c and see how much bigger the kilo will be. Personally, I'd go with a 53 if I were you.

Yeah, I was following the same c-c vs. c-t logic. I just worded it wrong.

My scrambler measures 51 cm c-t, which is probably about 49 c-c. The Kilo at 50 c-c might not be much of a step above, so I might be able to do 53 c-c, taking that into account. Need to keep mulling it over.

I just want to add my two cents that Scrod's Kilo is one of the nicest looking bikes on this forum, period.

Just finished this build Saturday (not finished...) Took this pic yesterday afternoon out around old town Sac.

Soon, I plan to replace the stem and bb also convert the drivetrain to 1/8 inch but I'll probably get some use out of this drivetrain first.

Bike looks great, but instead of going through the work of stripping the frame, I would have simply sold it for a new chrome Kilo frame =P

What stem is that, by the way?

^^^That would be the lazy way out...Plus I doubt that I would have been able to sell a used frame for the exact value of new chrome kilo frame.

The stem is off a MTN bike, not sure of the brand, -17 degrees 80-100mm?
