Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wow, I don't remember those calipers, there were some funky ones in early disc days though.

This popped up on FB feed. No real interest in the bike other than curiosity.

Did look into the stand because I like CF bling stuff, but at $650 no thanky..

That's an AMP Research bike. Horst Leitner of Horst Link fame was the designer. I think those are Rock Shox calipers.

If you're springing for a $12K bike, what's another $650 for a stand?

That stand would be easy enough to make, if you want gaudy on the cheap.

Better question is what’s a $650 when you are not springing for a $12K bike? The answer is “a lot.”

I get to go shopping for a MOTB dress today, so already feeling poor.

I’d get it if it was $100 max and didn’t have the decals on it.

Ultimate weight weenieism.

Yeah, I used to want one of those really bad BITD, and have come close to buying one of the Mongoose AMPs a few times.

Thanks for the ID on the calipers,

Thanks for the ID on the calipers,
My friend had a Litespeed hardtail with an AMP fork back in the early 90s. It was super light but flexy and that fork didn't have much travel or damping.

Spring Training flashback! Back in 2013, it snowed on the Diamondbacks/Rockies facilities just days before Spring Training was to start and people were shook!

I didn't wind up going to the GCU baseball opener Friday, but they lost 4-3, then last night they got killed! Today's 'Lopes game is $5, and it's only $2 more to sit in row 14 behind home plate at the Sun Devil's game, so I think I'll trek all the way to Tempe for some baseball today.

My ex brought by a bunch of stuff she wants me to hold onto while she has her place painted, including a bunch of Tiffany’s jewelry and a 1949 baseball autographed by, among others, Stan Musial.

Interesting history. It was signed when the team was in Philly staying at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel, where her aunt worked. The Bellevue later earned the dubious distinction of being the source of the outbreak of what is now called Legionaires’ Disease. The hotel never really recovered from the stigma and eventually went out of business.

I remember Sister Mary John from 4th grade. That was 56 years ago.
