Hey LA people, it's only a little more than a week away from my trip. A cycling friend of mine from the Bay area said he will come for a couple days and ride with me.
He suggested this route. I am no expert, but it looks like it does not do the full Mt Baldy, which should go up to the ski resort. Is the road beyond this route passable this time of year? Comments on route? Looks like it's an indirect climb, would the reverse route be better?

Coming back down, I would not use Baldy road. I've done it a couple times and it's easy to hit 50 mph and there is a tunnel and a lot more traffic. Plus, when you get to the bottom you have all those miles in "town". When I go up there I always come back down GRR to GMR, (the way you went up). Sometimes it's closed to cars and the twisty part near the bottom is quite fun.
If you want to add some early climbing and miles you could start at Encanto Park and go up Hwy 39 to East Fork to Little GMR and later come down GMR. There are bike trails on that route, I'll see if I can create a map thingie.
There is a chance of some weather today but I haven't heard the snow elevation. Mount Baldy village is only about 4000 feet so ice is more likely than snow. The lift area is 6000 and I don't know what the conditions are but after this weather passes we can find out more,
see if this works. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38569442

The first part is the most direct way to go up. Where it turns on Mount Baldy road you can go to the left and continue up to the village, just a quarter mile or so, or to the ski lift area, add 4 miles and 2000 feet of gain. I've gone to the ski lifts a number of times but it seems pointless. It has a lot of 15% grades and I don't need that after the climb to the village, ymmv.

Sorry. Migraines are nothing if not idiosyncratic.
I used to get simple migraines, but never tracked down triggers, and luckily I eventually found I could stop them with a large dose of Ibuprofen, and I seem to have aged out of them.

Curious, what's the square footage of your place? Having a hard time getting a sense of scale.

Out and back from the bottom of GMR is the easiest way. Also the most fun, in my opinion. I avoid Baldy road below GRR, up or down. You could add the ski lift if you want.

The route I created starts climbing on hwy 39 which can have traffic, especially on a warm weekend. There is an OHV park up there so people tow their toys up that road. I haven't had a problem there but coming down 39 in the afternoon is more busy.

The super bowl drew 10 million more TV viewers than it did last year. Go figure.
