Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks for the feedback folks. Gives me some things to think about. Overall I’m pretty happy that I was able to put this together without breaking anything. LOL.

I was thinking the tires clashed, but I wasn’t gunna say anything. The tires take away from the overall beauty of the bike.

I think a C-Record seatpost would look much better, but thats JMO.

This? It came with Record 8 speed that I’m going to hold on to and 96 Atlanta rims. I did reuse the skewers. I like the internal cam mechanism and think it looks better than Reynolds skewers.

Exactly the seatpost I had in mind.

I'd have one on my Guerciotti, but they are a little to short. I went with one from Velo Orange, and it looks good enough

I didn't polish this crankset(the previous owner did). Originally I had Chorus crankset on this bike, but it was so used up that it needed to be polished.

I found a C-Record version for $70, so I bought that knowing it had been polished.

The next purchase will be some generation 4 or 5 "Delta" brake calipers.

From the photos that you post of your bikes, it looks like it's never sunny in Connecticut.

You sound jealous. It's a great paint job! I'd be stoked as well.

There was nothing said about the poster, only the bike. If you don't like the feedback on your bike, determine if the feedback can help, or not. Remember, there is nothing malicious about the opinions, they are individual taste. Whether or not they agree with your taste, is beside the point.

Do you understand? You being the generic you, not anyone in particular.

Hot AF, but IMO the stem and post both need to be silver or black.

But more importantly, this bike is crying out for that awesome threaded to threadless quill/headset unit one of our members came out with. Dammit, can't remember his name

I'm looking at this bike again. Something looks off where the fork comes out of the bottom headset race. It looks like the fork steerer tube might be bent. It could be the angle of the photo. Please check it again for safety's sake.

Edit: Looking again on a bigger monitor. I think it's just the angle of the photo. Tough to tell. Look right where the fork exits the bottom of the headset. I can't tell if the angle is off some or not. I think it's ok.

I'm invoking the BF credo. If you don't agree with me you're a jerk.

Yeah it's just the angle, wheel slightly turned left, coupled with the slim quill stem that gives it that appearance.

I've seen that, he does great work. Very talented individual. I can't bring myself to put a threadless stem on there, just doesn't look right on a vintage frame to me (ironic I know since I put all modern components on).

Being a C&Ver yourself, you know all about "forks bent."

I looked at images of other 1992 Colnago Master Olympics. They all look the same. One of those things that catches the eye.

I can certainly appreciate this for what it is and I'm happily in the minority, but I think the paint is inanely busy, the chromed head tube lugs are de trop with the paint job, I don't like the "brutalist" headset design, I don't get the return to paint on the rear dropouts, the skinwalls just add more visual clutter, and the deep wheels are wrong with the classic-oid frame.

No it isn't.

That headest/Aheadset conversion is pretty slick, but is would screw up the look of this bike, He would need about 3" of spacers to get the handlebars to the height they are at now, and a huge stack of spacers never looks good.
