Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have been using Sram bar tape for the last number of years, because it is available. I bought five rolls of Pelten cork tape, from C&V sales, a year ago, as a lifetime supply. Not as easy to wrap, because it breaks when stretched too hard. But I'm an old fart. Old farts adapt.

It’s a typo but I am not sure how it happened. I believe I wrote “early” but now not so sure.

Welp, conversation with my dad this morning confirms that he's an idiot not going to get vaccinated.

He mentioned something about the Swine Flu and the inability to cure cancer among his reasons for not trusting vaccines. I knew that I wouldn't be able to appeal to logic, so I just mentioned that we'd be visiting my mother-in-law soon since she's scheduled for her vaccination this week. Ugh.

Oh dear. He is old enough to remember diseases like Polio which were widespread before vaccines. I understand that younger people have no clue how much a game changer vaccines have been but the elders should know better.

As I like to say, it’s a free country so people are free to make bad decisions.

5 11 with 34 inch in seam. I’ll be adjusting the seat post height a little bit, but that’s a rough estimate after measuring the cervelo. I have long legs and a short torso.

Podium, schmodium. Windy, 40s, and spitting drizzle every now and then. Nope, not today. Besides, I'm tired.

I'd put white tape and white cages on. I've never had a problem cleaning white tape with a rag, any spray cleaner, and using the shoe-shine method.

Caught a case of patellar chondromalacia on my long ride yesterday. It’s on the side where my vastus medialis is partially atrophied from an old L3 injury, causing a strength imbalance which never bothered me before. I guess all the squats this winter have made the muscles stronger and increased the forces on things. However, quad strengthening is often advised as treatment. Luckily it only hurts going down stairs. Guess I’ll try stretching it.

Many at my local are part of one large, extended family. The place has even produced numerous weddings over the decades I've been going there. Babies have been born (but not yet in the place). Some long time customers have died.

Oh yeah. For $5 you could get your drink on and leave a tip. I was at 4733 Maripoe St. all three years. Maybe a 5 min. walk in the direction of Bloomfield. I remember when a guy from Philly opened a cheesesteak place attached to Mitchell's on Centre Ave. at Melwood. Finally a taste of home.

Through the magic of Powerpoint, I was able to match up a picture of my Ritchey with the Circuit that's only 30 miles away.

I'm thinking it's WAY too small. I set the crank centers aligned, and then adjusted the size of the Circuit till the top of the seat tube lined up with 56mm on the Ritchey's seat tube, and this is what I got.

I'd need 2 more cm of seatpost, and then a 130mm stem. I don't know if there's enough extension left on the seatpost! And a new (to me)Cinelli 1A stem in 130, plus recabling because everything would be farther away. And I'd still end up with 2 mor cm of bar drop than I'm used to.

There are times when my asinus nocet flares up after long rides.

From the pic, at least, the seat heights look close. The seat to stem length looks similar. You could raise the quill stem and get longer reach bars.
