Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nope.

Handwringing over what looks like a really special frameset but would delay some other bike related things that I've been wanting to take care of.

I’m sitting in my office twiddling my thumbs because our IT is down. It’s quite nice out. Think I’ll go for a walk to scrounge up a NYT. Hard to find these days now that the Wawas in center city are boarded up and the 7-11 down the street is closing for good.

What kind of car? Are you paying for it, or insurance?

I was driving my old Blazer @65 mph and something hit the windshield low and to the right. I thought it was a bullet and powdered glass flew in like a cloud of dust.
Never found out what it was but the hole went all the way through and during the next few years got bigger and would whistle when I got up to speed so I put duct tape over it. It also spiderweb cracked all over until a cop pulled me over and told me I had to get it fixed.
I think I paid $150 for the new windshield and within 3 months it was hit by a rock on the same freeway and I had a cracked windshield again.

I've learned with these cars that sometimes you just have to suck it up and pay the "Porsche tax" (or BMW/MB/Audi tax) that comes with owning them. Don't have to like it though.
I thought it must have rain sense and other stuff if it cost as much as a nice bike.

I was way underdressed this AM w/ just a thermal base layer, tights and jersey. My lungs were burning when I got home from sucking wind in the dry, cold air.

Yah, appears to be just the paint, tapping sounds sharp and nothing felt amiss. Going to take it to lbs to see what they think, but I’m far less concerned now.

the apparent crack can be seen here on the lower right of the dig into the paint.

it looks like a scratch

Interesting - cool for the first half, especially in valleys, but it got warmer throughout. There were flat layers of fog to go through, and the temp variations meant everything was fogging over badly. It was beautiful though, and felt great to be outside again.
