Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I wrote an angry letter. They responded with a general apology but said without the van number they could not directly educate the driver. I wrote back accepting that and asking that they remind ALL their drivers of the 4 foot safe pass law in our state. Obviously today’s bad actor did not get the memo.

I have been running my 28s at 90F/95R since summer. Despite having lost 20 lbs, I hadn't recalculated. So I just did.

SRAM: 85F/90R
Silca: 71F/73R.

That's rather a broad range...

Bummer

I'm pretty sure I got a punish pass for the first time today. Van behind me on an empty road had moved into the far lane but changed back and came fairly close to me. Nothing technically illegal but it was totally unnecessary to change back into the right lane that soon.

I remember that incident. Fingers crossed for your club-mate.

Sounds like Comcast needs to work on their drivers.

I use ~72/82. I understand that's on the high side but manage to hit water access mini-potholes too often, at speed.

Zilch. Winterizing the boat. Have at it!

Well, actually, if I get up early enough, might do a few fake recovery miles.

I'm 185#s and run 55/60 in 30mm tires. Sometimes much lower, if I forget to pressure up for a week.

They started trying to push Iron City in Portland around the turn of the century. Then a little while later Old German started trying to wedge itself into the market. I was like come on man, bring some Yeunglings over instead. That's supposed to happen soon now, but I don't think they've announced a date as of yet.

Old German? WTH. We used to sell quarts of that for $1 when I worked at a deli/cheesesteak place in the summer of’86.

I got hit by a Continental Cablevision van, now Comcast, back in the '80s. Hit me with the side mirror and knocked me in to the ditch but I didn't get hurt other than a sore shoulder. Driver stopped but then sped away. I filed a police report and the district office offered to fire the driver but I relented because they had a cyclist aware class for their drivers.

Obviously, some things never change.

Sophomore year at Pitt (82-83) I went on a brief Old German stint. It was $3/case so that was attractive to my frugal sensibilities. Problem was it sucked and it gave me a raging headache by beer 3. I moved on to Old Mil and Iron. Pitchers at a bar were $2.50 back then.

Speaking of wine, here is tonight's selection. Initial impression is very good acidity similarly to a burgundy. This is a red blend so I'm not sure what it is exactly. Would be great with most food, since the tannins are minimal. It is also organic so I get virtue signaling points.

I googled it and I am surprised by the grapes. Basically grapes popular southern France especially the Rhone region.
