I originally posted this on the General Thread, but no replies, so I'm trying it here...
I recently acquired one of my grail bikes. It's a Bianchi Reparto Corse XL Boron Steel built with a complete Campy Chorus 10 group. Information is scarce about these frames, and I was wondering if you Bianchi experts (paging: Bianchigirl? Bianchigirll ) can help. My frame is also EV2, with foam injected reinforcement.
- What year was this built? (I think either 2000 or 2001, but would love to know for sure)
- I've seen versions of this frameset and in fact, my best friend has an almost identical frameset, with a black carbon fork, where my fork has matching Celeste/Yellow paint. Were they different years? Was my Celeste painted fork a special order? Was it a specific model?
Any other additional information or trivia about these frames, or photos of yours is greatly appreciated.
I'm very happy and excited to have found this bike, and the previous owner(s) set it up nicely and kept it in top condition.

Soo I am replacing my Italian threaded bottom bracket. Running dura ace x2 cranks but unsure of the size of the squared BB length..
i currently has that wonky odd bb that is not fully squared., need to change to the standard tapered squared.

which Dura Ace crankset? The pre 74xx (index era) style? The Dura Ace AX. you need to figure out what crank you have then get the correct Italian thread BB for that crank.
people make this so complicated. Go to Velobase and see what crank you actually have, then check which BB you need, then go to either Phil Wood or EBay and start shopping.
Are you sure you Ave a Campione del Mundo model? Or just a bike with a commemorative Campione del Mondo sticker on it? Yes good pics are a must.

This Year 2022, at last I've got a Molteni Eddy Merckx.
But I like his rivals too, Felice Gimondi, Roger de Vlaeminck, Francesco Moser, Bernard Hinault.
For me, Bianchi means Felice Gimondi.
But Bianchi, I only have this trade card.
When can I buy one?

The only Dura-Ace road crankset with a traditonal separate spindle that didnt used a square, tapered spindle was the 7700 series, which used the Octalink bottom bracket. Regardless, if it currently doesn't use a square, tapered spindle, you'll have to change the entire crankset, as you crankarms won't be compatible with a square, tapered spindle. The correct spindle length will depend on the new crankarms.

Cool, nice, desirable examples in your size can be even more so, especially at a reasonable price.
Hanging out here can help immensely by educating yourself and researching them.
You can also start your own thread asking for one and post in WTB thread.
It really will depend on how much $$$$$$ you really want a good one.

If you dig the Gimondi style of bikes some Rekord models are very loosely similar and rather cheap, but if you go for top shelf, the Specialissima like his might cost both of your kidneys and not only becuase they are expensive in Japan.
At least you have a Molteni Merckx until you get there, which is a really cool thing to have.

A few weeks ago I bumped into this video, and it was both exciting and shockingly scary when I learned it loosens the whole wheel. Now the heroic time period when these were the top tech got an even bigger admiration. Those guys were really crazy in my head alone for the distance, the mountains they climbed with bikes weighing 3x as much as an upper-average roadie today and then this on top...
Third shock came last week, as I checked for fun how much would be to build up an 50s bike and saw the

When I saw the first Cambio Corsa equipped bike decades ago (wasn't really into C&V yet) I was shocked and thought, that maybe that one glance at this ergonomic position to shift is more than enough for a lifetime and I really didn't feel the need for it.
A few weeks ago I bumped into this video, and it was both exciting and shockingly scary when I learned it loosens the whole wheel. Now the heroic time period when these were the top tech got an even bigger admiration. Those guys were really crazy in my head alone for the distance, the mountains they climbed with bikes weighing 3x as much as an upper-average roadie today and then this on top...
Third shock came last week, as I checked for fun how much would be to build up an 50s bike and saw thedork disk spoke protector alone for like 350 EUR, (half if one buys the only available REG one) and a full kit for ~1100.
By now my appreciation is full, but I still don't see myself to reach for a CC bike on my daily errands until I have anything else in the cellar. Or maybe ride it but would never touch the lever.

I would love to have a bike with it. I think @iab is working up to one as he recently found a frame. The key are the DO with the toothed rack for a controlled movement of the axle. This alone would drop the risk level in my mind. However, every step of the process would need to be nearly flawlessly executed! that is when men were men!
