Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I run Map My Fitness on the phone and use it to track my individual bike mileages for maintenance purposes. But I also have a Garmin and it syncs with Strava. The Strava ride analysis and comparison tools can't be beat. By running both I never lose a ride.

Same with me. I don't even have the MMR app installed. I used a CatEye or Garmin for actual ride recording to save phone battery power.

Another vote for Strava for recording rides and RidewithGPS for planning new ones.

I have MMR, bought a year of service for $30 rather than doing the $5.99/month but after learning that Strava has more social features I do plan on trying it when my riding improves. As of right now I'm not up to group riding levels but I'm getting better or at least devolving a better understanding of road riding. I have a regular bike computer ( and one w/cadence in ordered) for the instant display feedback but use my phone for all the data logging.
