Bar ends or new style handlebars, will turn any flat-bar bike into a whole new bicycle. Now that I've gone trekking, I'll never go back to the risers my '92 (red) crossroads came with.

I should have thought it is obvious, DG.
As "everybody knows", riding a bicycle with flat bars for any -- I repeat, any -- distance over ten miles will inevitably result in severe short and long term injury and disability, including but not limited to severe discomfort in your wrists etc. Continued attempts to do rides in excess of 10 miles not using drop bars will result in your arms falling off.
You have been warned.

I have a 2013 Specialized Sirrus Elite-no disc brakes, my most comfortable ride. Mine is silver/gray, I like it!
