I can still read the computer, but I carry readers on long rides in case I have to look at maps on the phone or fix something small.

A few years ago my friend took me on an epic ride from Oakland out to and up Mt Diablo.
On the way, he pointed to some dry brown hills and asked me what color they were. I said “brown.”
He corrected me and told me they were the GOLDEN HILLS.
I still think they were brown. No rain makes everything look that way.

My eye doc said if I can see with the readers then it wouldn't be a problem. Not taking the $400 driving glasses on the trail is a good thing.

These are reading sunglasses. 1:75 isn't strong enough for me to read small print but I can see the road surface clearly with them. I experimented with cheap, off the shelf readers for the mountain bike because I really need to see the details of the surface and plain Oakleys weren't working. On the road I just dealt with declining vision.

My Dad never wore glasses till he was about my age, early 60s. But he really needed to for a while before he finally gave in. He read the newspaper at arms length, and he had long arms! Eventually, they weren't long enough.

Yeah, I fought it for a few years, refused to get an eye exam. My ex finally went to a pharmacy and bought an assortment of cheap readers. That was 25 years ago and I have had several prescriptions since then. The biggest revelation was driving at night with the right prescription.

Off to the retina specialist for my monthly visit and maybe won’t have to get an eyeball injection this time. Fingers crossed.

Same here, but lucky on the close vision. Still don't need reading glasses but I know I will be needing them soon.

I know I was complaining about my eyes several weeks ago, now there back to normal. Not sure what can cause that. Hopefully it will stay that way.
I felt great this morning.

Very smokey here this morning. Supposed to be 109 today so I'd like to ride early but if there's dense smoke I should skip it. Maybe drive someplace.

My longest ride in months and months, followed by a day of yard work has me feeling my age. There was a ride scheduled for today but I'm tired. If I had those rollers, I could tool around on them. I ordered the bearings this morning. My two projects for the day are 1) revamping the top of my woodshop workbench and 2) beginning the process of installing my wife's old double sink into my counter, which currently has a single, built in concrete sink. One of those 'It seemed like a good idea at the time' things. Functional but not fun. I will find out if I can cut tile, cleanly, with a rotating blade, or if the edges will shatter.
