Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Slow night, everyone must be finalizing their All-Star picks. There are not many Pittsburgh Pirates who are deserving.

Just got back from a cycling group dinner. No one got dropped. In fact, I excelled.

Around Tellico Plains is your standard back country roads. But the may draw is the Cherohala Skyway, which has an easy five-mile start along the river, but then gets climby fast.

I don't want to climb 10,000 feet in 55 miles.
Should I start pre-hydrating now?

I hadn't even shot in probably a year. It all felt weird. Having stiff knees didn't help.

I've been the exact opposite on my Lake shoes. The 237 are 45, and the 402 are 44.5, based on the 45 fit. Both work, but the 45 size can take extra socks, if need be.

Agree on custom, other than the fact that every custom shoe I've seen looks like a club hanging off that person's ankle.

Once I had converted teh feet to proper measurement I understand your fright. 3,048m of climbing just sounds painful. I get tired just thinking of that much climbing.

I'm not gonna do a ton of climbing tomorrow, but gonna be my first time riding above 5000' in about a year. I heard pie helps with altitude adjustment, so that's what we had for dinner. Rhubarb for the little lady and peach a la mode for me.

Don’t know but I never seem to catch up. I’m still working on the miles needed to burn off Christmas gorging from two years ago.
