Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I would fully expect you could get that bike to sub-25, but how much that's actually going to cost is questionable. Maybe you can get the same results. Maybe not. That said, the Epic frame is a solid choice as an XC platform to build on.

Yep, if I happened to get lucky on a wheelset and/or fork upgrade it would be pretty cool, but as it stands I'll bide my time 'til I find one that's closer to what I want or wait to see if this guy reduces his price by 5 hundred or so.

I wish my bike was 27 pounds. Don't know that I've ever had a mountain bike that light, including hard tails.

I would like to have a super light XC bike for some of the smoother rides but I don't want to give up the enduro type bike for the rough stuff.

This isn’t me complaining btw. Just stating facts. My buddy the manager was shocked it didn’t come with one. I was the first SLR 7 he sold.
My wife’s Ultegra equipped SLR 7 didn’t come with one, either, but my SRAM Force SLR 7 did.

I LOVE this bike - 21lbs. I made the decision to put more priority on being more efficient uphill, and less concerned about going fast downhill. If the terrain scares me too much to ride it on this bike, I probably shouldn't be riding it. I'm good with El Prieto Canyon once in a while, but anything more threatening than that I'll leave for the guys who are still young and bulletproof. Backbone Trail below the Hub is definitely in my comfort zone.

I have 24 lb hardtails in steel and aluminum, 100mm forks on both, get close to 23lbs when I put stupid light 1.9" tyres on. Sure would be nice to have a double boinger in that weight range. Rode an Epic that was 24 lbs in 2014 or so and that was sooo sweet.

I actually wouldn't mind something around 26lbs with 2.6" tires on...

El P scares me. Those cliffs are the reason. I went off a cliff on the Gabrielino in 2007 and don't care to repeat that experience.

Backbone below the hub to J Drop to Rustic Canyon to Sullivan Ridge or Sullivan Canyon on a hardtail? I haven't been up there on a hardtail since 1997 or before but I sure appreciate my bike on those square edge ruts and holes.

Of course I've never ridden anything the caliber (no pun intended) of your bike but my hardtail memories are not fond ones. Back then it was 26" wheels with 2.1 tires @ 30 psi or higher.

1) Pointless, probably. But if they are going to brand patients as "difficult" (or so I've heard) then why not the opposite?

2) Nit picking about male/man.

3) No point in noting attractiveness unless there are pics.

You’re right, there!

She doesn’t need any stinking numbers. No PM and no HRM. She worries about her average speed, though.
