Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nice. I have the 2014 version. I didn't know that C was offering the 105 disc because it's not on their website? (I haven't been following the Cannondale news)

My 2014 looks identical except for the paint job which has solid graphic blocks instead of the outlines like yours. And I think your paint is matte, whereas mine is gloss black

Thanks. Yup, Fairfield CA! It's a 2010, and the paint must be former Incycle team colors - they're not stickers, they are under the clear coat. Also, must have been a display bike - not a scratch on it!

I loved the brushed aluminum 2014 but the 5800 105 tipped me in favor of a 2015. Yeah, it's really odd that the 5 Disc 105 isn't on the website. I don't know much about the bike business, but it seems to me to be super strange that they don't list it.

We were taking pictures during our ride, it was slightly staged and slightly exaggerated, but we were also riding an incline. Never said it was from a race or anything. Was just for fun.

The newest update, makes the hoods look higher than they are but I got a pro fit and this is what we came up with.

Nice ride, love the colours. Which group is that? After a year of riding I still can't get the dream of Campy on my CAAD10 out of my head.

Thanks! I bought it for the unusual color scheme - not sure if it was a display bike, or someone's custom team colors, etc. I have 2010 Record 11 on her, with Campy's BB30 adapter cups that I pressed in after removing the BB30 bearings.

Your CAAD10 will thank you for switching to Campy!

Yeah, Athena is just as good as Chorus, except for a small weight penalty. Do you currently have 105?

Yeah, 105 currently, and I like the Chorus (especially with the multiple upshift that I like on my Mirage on my spare bike) but really it's the classic chrome look that I like. I wish they'd keep the classic look alive, it seems to be dropping further and further down the chain; the 2015 Veloce has some silver parts as far as I can see, but everything above is black.

I like silver too, but on a modern frame, I like the plastic stuff! It just goes better with the fatter tubes and modern paint schemes!

True! I have the 2013 silver/black colourway, though, and someone's posted a pic here before of a Silver Athena build with it, and it looked like everything I'd dreamed it would. It's just a question of persuading herself to let me give myself a super-awesome early Christmas present.

Nice, I like that silver/black CAAD10 scheme. I assume you are in the UK (spelling color as colour)? Prices at the usual discounters (Ribble, Wiggle, PBK, etc) are probably better here in the USA (no VAT)!?

I'm an Irishman living in California, but I like to keep spelling things the right way.

It's definitely the UK sites I'm looking at, though, yes.

Ah, got it.
The dollar is up slightly vs. the Pound, so now is as good a time as any to go Campy!

2013 EVO, looking for a cheap set of carbon clinchers to beat up. Next purchase will be some sort of Power Meter, 2015 looks like a good year for PM availability.
