Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was always partial to the La Vie Claire jersey, even on Hinault, never had one though.

Can't tell for sure from online dictionaries, but it looks like "aegroto" refers to a person, not a condition. As in, "A sick man is mandatory." The "mandatum" seems to relate to commands rather than meaning mandatory, and would have the -us ending to agree with a masculine noun. I think the "est" would more often be last, or omitted altogether, but it's been a while.

I just used the first Latin-English translator I found, and it does seem like it was not only doing a word-by-word translation, but just picking the first word that seemed to fit. Far from the ideal translation method, but I doubt Latin is used enough these days to justify putting too much effort into accurate (free) translators.

I just made this as a joke to begin with. It seems like people actually want it, though, so if anyone can help out with the translations, I'll gladly fix it.

There use to be these jerseys with Eddy on the front - really big! Also, the Cinelli jerseys had what looked like a bundle of pasta in the rear pocket. I loved that!

For those who own Twin Six jerseys... whats the cut really like?

"The fit is between a Euro-cut and an American-cut (great for both road and dirt riders),"

I'd buy an idiot's jersey if you offered one. I think you should take up orders and see what you can do.

Someone designed a 50 Plus jersey over at the old folks forum. I own one and it's my favorite jersey. If fact it's the only jersey I wear. I don't remember where I put the others.

Seriously, do it. But clean up the Latin. Idiots have standards, too.

I've always been partial to this one. Can't help it. Maybe it's the red. Never had the stones to actually buy it though.

Would you wear a jersey with a Swastika on it?

Discuss.

As someone with several very close friends who lived under an actual communist regime (rather than an imaginary, U.S. pseudo-intellectual "anti-establishment" one), I have to seriously question the coolness of this jersey.

Of course not, but I don't think the comparison is an apt one. The swastika is a symbol particular to a specific, white supremacist ideology. The hammer and sickle was Russia's symbol of the proletariat/working class since the beginning of the 20th century, long before Stalin took over and turned the country into a nightmare. Yes, it represented communism, but it did not specifically represent despotism and totalitarianism.

That said, it'd be hard to wear it and have to constantly explain all of that, and I certainly understand all of the negative connotations, however inaccurate some of them might be.

Regardless, I mainly just find it kind of an interesting take on retro jerseys.

Oh boy. I really hope this doesn't turn into one of those threads. If it does, I'm apologizing in advance.

I like the Caisse d'Epargne jerseys. I would like to find a carbon fiber looking jersey without the team name on it.

Not cool I know, but.....

That futile war has been fought around here before . . . . my recommendation, just let it go.
