Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've also always wanted to do a ride from Winona to Hastings or Hasting to Winona (depending on the wind), but the logistics of it would be difficult...

The worst was my wife couldn't drive for 5 weeks and me for 6 weeks. Luckily, we belong to two cycling clubs and the members kept us in food and drove us to medical appointments for which we are eternally grateful.

We rode our tandem by the crash site yesterday at a docile 18 mph instead of the 25.5 mph that our Garmin file last recorded during the crash.

We're pretty much recovered but both have odd and end residual joint aches. Still, we feel lucky and it hasn't kept us from riding. Cycle on!
I'm so glad you have worked through it.

I am, but there's plenty to so around the house. The point is I am able bodied again.

If I ever ride another non-metric century, I imagine it will be an accident. I did 90 miles last winter though.

Hand ups to a bike with those flimsy little bottles equal nothing but trouble.

ftfy

I don't get the whole hand up for a 13.5 mile ride anyway. I had a bottle on my bike waiting for me. I didn't take a hand up until the final 5k run. I didn't attempt to grab the Gatorade and drink it on the move either. I stopped, took it, drank it while walking to the trashcan, and then continued on my way. Probably why I was 1 second off the 10th place position in my AG...

The 41 route has Goatneck Hill, right? I hear that part sucks pretty bad.
