Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I believe this is correct.

Oh, never mind.
RIP Gilda Radner

If you weren't out partying with the upper crust crowd of MSP last night you could have told me that earlier and saved me some unfounded angst. Sad!

On board fresh brewed coffee? Actually I would like a 12 speed 1x with 12-26. That might be coming soon, of course I will be a late adopter to save money.

This is only one bike, but, my friend got about 3,000 miles out of his 11 speed Ultegra rear cable.
I put one of the new polymer coated rear derailleur cables on my 105 10 speed. The polymer started coming off at the BB cable guide very quickly.

I ignore coated cables. The coating degrades and fouls the shifting.

I don't even need all the ten gears I have.

Guess I'm of a by-gone HTFU era.

Breathe on those cables and they start shedding.

No progress in 15 years and really with the cable shredding issues; a step back.

No wonder the bike industry is struggling.

I assume it's more efficient transferring power. Is it any cheaper or more durable? I'm going to guess no.

The outward pointing teeth on the cassette is clearly an attempt by Big Bike to distract, marginalize and ultimately get consumers to accept the already life-threatening hazard of disc brakes.

A quick question for the doctors and nutritionists in the house. Does the protein in my breakfast smoothie suppress my thirst reflex the same as it does for hunger?

Thirst based on how “dry” you are inside. So probably not.

Protein metabolism releases some water, but it gets used to excrete the urea generated by the same process. If there’s enough fat or carbs in it, it might make enough water to need drink a little less. As for what makes you thirsty, what @datlas said.

While we're here, another question. I bought a Cygolite 100, and can't tell if it's charging or not. Some say it flashes while charging; mine does nothing, and seems perpetually in need of a charge. Observations? The instructions on the packaging are worthless.
