Because it's too damn hot (hottest day of the year in SD), plus laziness. I knew I was gonna bag it early about 2hr in, so I spent a fair bit of time in z4 over the last hour.

something like 5.5 hours of unstructured solo jamming today. was so cracked at the end that i got lost riding home through my neighborhood. starve seems to be conspiring against me by failing to record part of the ride whenever i do a century or almost a century.
just shy of 22 hours for the week. maybe my biggest week ever. never thought i'd say this but i'm sick of eating.
edit: definitely not my biggest week ever. did 30+ weeks while in tucson and san diego a few years ago. but, probably my biggest wheel while working or in school
duuuude i was driving home from rhode island last night and that lightning was crazzzzzzy. glad you're safe.

Planned 2x45 tempo last night. Didn't figure on severe t-storms. I managed to dodge the storms through the first 45', ran out of room early in the second. With a big storm between me and home I ended up having to call in a rescue and ducked into a cafe. I didn't actually ride in much rain, and that wasn't my biggest concern. The amount of lightning I was seeing between me and my house was very scary.
This morning, a big team cross practice. Lots of barrier work, 10x30" grass hill repeats, another 10 run-up repeats. So humid. So brutal. Cyclocross training in mid-August is just brutal thanks to the heat. Worth it, though.

The numbers say 700 tss for the last week, but my body says it thinks it was more. Track racing night underestimate the tss, but I've had that going all summer. Super tired though, took a nap yesterday and two today. Also racing that point in the season where intervals don't sound like fun, but racing still seems great.

200 something TSS for the week!
Been avoiding doing the little things like stretching, estim, massage, graston, and using my standing desk and could barely stretch my leg. I have a whole laundry list of crazy stuff to keep issues at bay, but they work. 20 hours on the bike + 40 hours sitting at a desk = sciatica.

I think there is just not enough flat roads around here for me to do a real recovery ride. I have a steep hill to go up to get to my house no matter what direction I ride, the terrain is generally rolling as well. I'm in my smallest gear, it still takes 250 watts to get up any hills in the area, either that or I tip over.

Coincidentally I did a 1:30 recovery ride this morning. 22.6 miles at a blazing 14.9 mph average speed with a monstrous 360 feet of climbing. TSS was 31.3. TKP's FTP is probably 50% higher than mine, so that's about right.

On my morning commute, I can go 2 miles without pushing the pedals if I hit the lights perfect... The bad part is coming home. At least a 500 ft climb to my house from any direction. We have 10,000 ft mountain ranges on 3 sides so its not too bad

Ooof. I didn't feel too bad after that cross practice yesterday, but all those hill climbs, on and off the bike, seem to have caught up to me today. I almost never experience DOMS from cycling training, but I feel like I can barely turn my legs over today. Means it was a good workout!
Dang bro. That's a lot of riding. I really don't know how you do it.
The lightning really was crazy. The rain did get pretty heavy eventually, but the lightning was a much bigger worry.

I think I have two or so interval sessions until the off season, so I'll knock those out, but yeah. Ready for some free form riding.
