Still cool enough in the morning to require a jacket and mittens, but it's getting warmer quickly. In two or three weeks it'll be shorts weather again. 20.6 miles (32.2k) in 1:38:05, 1.195 calories burned. Pretty good time for me.

Went outside at 2:00AM and watched the launch of the Falcon 9 by Space X going up from complex 39A. Clear-COLD with a wonderfully long flaming exhaust plume as it rose up. Was thinking about heading out for a ride after but it was just too cold.

Headed out at 8:15AM bundled up pretty good and got in another WINDY 70 miler. Hope these 15mph to 20mph with higher gusts calm down for Saturday's LBS ride.

Too cold to ride this morning so the wife and I did an early afternoon ride. Windy and very chilly for my 40 mile ride.

Warm enough this morning for just a lined jersey and nylon jacket, full fingered gloves, knit cap under the helmet (49° to start). Nice n' sunny. 18.4 miles (29.6k), 1.067 calories burned in 1:26:23. Still having a skipping problem with the rear derailleur (4th gear) on the Tarmac. Guess I'll have to watch the video again and learn to cuss in Japanese.

Temps are starting to get back to normal but it was still a bit chilly this morning. The wind, however, hasn't changed. Did a very windy, 50 miles today with my buddy Steve. Another friend joined us on our second lap. So glad to have an extra rider to help with pulling.

Yay Daylight Savings Time! Enough Daylight Time to get in a 12 mile ride after work without really needing lights - of course I had my flashing lights in spite of that.

It finally warmed up a bit today, and the winds were a bit calmer, but coming from the north, so I got hammered pretty good on the return. There's one section of the ride in western Alachua Co. that reminds me of "The Gauntlet". Wide open plains with no place to take cover. Just hunker down and get through it. Only saw one other cyclist on the ride. Today's tally was 38 miles in exactly 2 hours.

I tried two crushed gravel paths today. I should have waited but yesterday's road traffic was too much for me. They were mostly OK but a fair amount of slushy ice and soft spots. Slow going. Messed up the GPS again but I estimate 10-11 miles. Mid forties.

Oh man, is it ever gonna be a long road back. I rode a grand total of less than 300 miles last year. All year. The weather, my schedules and other commitments conspired against me. Over and over.

But that was then and this is now! Third (or is it fourth?) ride this year. 14 slow / moderate miles and I just thought I was out of shape last year. Oh well, gotta (re-)start somewhere. Had to adjust my route because I got tired of using up my Gatorade squirting at dogs (grrr).

But I need to do this. And it's a nice day.

Food shopping 5 mile round trip bike ride at 5:31AM. Was too much traffic for a Saturday morning.

Left house late so didn't make it to the LBS for AM ride start but managed to meet them as they came down the road. Another 71 miles in that was just wayyyy too fast.

Way to go, Potsie. As is said, "Just Do It!" It gets easier.

17.3 Miles (20.6k), 1,073 calories burned. Nice ride until the wind came up so I cut it shorter than my usual 20+ (I'm such a Wind Wimp).

The U.S. Tax Code has more pages (5,000) than The Bible and "War and Peace" (4,500).
(Taxes - isn't that over next to New Mexico?)

Rode with the Gainesville Cycling Club (High Bees) on a 46 mile loop to the north of Alachua 7 other riders. I need to practice my pace line skills as it was gas on, gas off, brake, repeat, etc. I did a fair amount of pulling, which was less stressful.

5-10 mph winds, especially the last 15 miles heading south, but a good day all around.

27 miles Saturday. Felt sluggish the first half, but much more energized for the return trip. A bit slower than my usual 14 mph average on the mountain bike on this route, but a very enjoyable ride and unusually warm March afternoon.

Sunny and almost but not quite warm today. Out for a 10 mile solo ride, then a 13 mile tandem ride.
Hope to ride to work once or twice this week - haven't done that since late November.

23 miles

23 miles with a few steep hills, but mostly rolling, curving, partly shaded loveliness along a creek.

I had not ridden in 10 days, so easy was the mantra for today.
A solo 20 today that included ascending all the way up the longest grade in my area. I usually go about half way up and reverse course, but today I thought what the heck. I found that at 8-9mph I can climb up it without too much effort (that may come later...) Average was OK for a solo ride. I need to get out more now that the temps are up, but we usually see some pretty unrelenting stiff winds here in March.........

18.5 Miles (29.8k), 1073 calories burned on the Monday morning Kiwanis Coffee Riders group ride. 8 Riders today, most of them slow, but nice people. I usually cruise 14-16mph, they might go 12mph downhill. Except for Roger J. (runs Kiwanis Bikes). He's at least 2 years older than me, 30 lbs heavier, and rides like he's 28. Much warmer today.
