We have very small hornbill population the area. This area has been gazetted as Piasau Nature Park.
It was near Lutong beach where some middle age men paragliding and the young one drag racing at abandoned old Lutong Airport runway.

Bike-bus-bike commute. This is waiting to go back home.



There's another, full-size bike in there in back of the Birdy. All the bus drivers like the folder a lot better than a full-size bike. Bikes which don't fit with other luggage get bumped from this particular bus line.


Unfolded and ready to go! I don't bother with racks or bags for my short commutes on either end of the bus ride, thus the small back pack.

Must be nice... Greyhound policy is they will not take a bike on board unless it is boxed- folder or not. It's incredibly frustrating when I've got a bike smaller than some lady's stroller, but because it's a bike, they won't accept it in the luggage compartment.

The month of March was spent in Myrtle Beach SC this year. Although it was cooler than usual, had some good rides near the beach with my Giant "Halfway". The "Pleasure-Way" Class B is our home away from home.

I'm currently converting a utility van to livable space. Considering which bike to make room for. I'd love a full-size bike, but a folder makes a lot more sense...

Our 1997 ClassB was purchased a couple of years ago with low miles and in good condition. Many years ago I converted a one ton passenger van for camping. After a while we owned a beautiful 87 Dodge Campwagon Class B until we decided we needed more space and bought a Class A (expensive mistake) and later a travel trailer (less expensive mistake). The Pleasureway is a keeper!
Now back to bikes. We often use a hitch mounted rack and take full size bikes along. The folders are used when travelling long distances through salt and winter roads. They fit in their own bags and sit on the beds easily accessible from the rear and out of weather and more secure while overnighting.
Check out (google) the rear bed in the new Winnebago Travato ClassB. Its folding up design makes lots of carrying room.

What is this talk about "full size bikes"? My folders are "full size", ie they are sized for adults. They don't have over-sized wheels, that's all. But they have normal size wheelbases, my Moulton even has a wheelbase larger than the majority of bikes with over-sized wheels. Likewise my Swift has a wheelbase longer than most road bikes. By using that term, you perpetuate the myth that folders are toys, kids bikes, small bikes. Some folders especially some Chinese offerings are really small, I concede. but they are not the norm.

Wow, sure didn't solicit or expect that response. The physical space that a bicycle occupies in transit is important, and among bike/RV folks, "size matters".
The afore mentioned Giant Halfway is a much used and loved bike (mrs browngw has a Giant Expressway)and the most expensive in my small fleet that includes a MTB, hybrid and some C&V. Sometimes we need a way to differentiate. "Folders?" have a name, What should I call my 700C wheeled Giant Cypress or my 27" Sekine SHS 271?

Sorry I didn't mean to sound rude or anything like that. I do get riled a bit bit by this issue, I guess I am still sensitive about it after many years of just having *full-sized* folders. Just call it a bike or a non-folder, just not a full-sized.

BTW the UCI specifies a minimum wheel size of 55cm (451's are ~50cm) -- I'm quite comfortable with my 700c being called full-size, a size that's been common since the Dandy Horse.

Not picking a fight, 'cuz I don't see one.
