My first proper fixed gear bike.

Daveyates indeed has his eyes open and the opportunities seem to present themselves on a regular basis.
Maybe I should put in an "order" for a bike I would like to have… (assuming there should be some profit to be made, for motivation)

My 1977 (I think) Motobecane, in her current incarnation as the Euro rat-rod back up bike. It's a heavy bike (~27 lbs), and the paint has that sort of caught-in-shrapnel patina to it. Converted to 700c, and built up with miscellaneous bits from the spare parts bin. In time, I'll try to get the rest of the drivetrain replaced with European bits, unless I get distracted with some other "sexier" project first. The Nuovo Record rear was courtesy of David325, a dramatic improvement over the beaten up old VGT Luxe that came with it.

OK, here are mine............
Firstly my 'newest' - a 1966 Camille Dardenne Vitus butted steel frame built up with French parts. Most of the parts were in hand before the frame, which gave me the idea of creating this French - flavoured pastiche. Took a while to 95% identify the frame, which I posted as a 'mystery' about a year ago! The Nervar Star chainset and the Mafac Racer brakes it now wears were generously donated by C&V Forum buddy 'Elcraft' - Thanks again Eben! Elcraft also persuaded me that the white '70's saddle, though of French origin, was awful - and steered me towards this venerable Ideale Mod 80. The brake levers are CLB, but the rubber hoods I have to admit are Dia-Compe, nice enough but not French. However, the toeclips and straps, tyres and tubes, cables and even the cable clips are of French origin - and it's a really brilliant ride!
The paint was the closest I could match to the existing finish - an earlier repaint that had spider's webs under it. The decals for the down tube I copied from the only photo I could find of another Dardenne, a 50's model and the head and seat tube crests were an invention of my own - the Fleur de Lys motif and blue background depicting the symbols of La Republique Francais!
Next up, my Vitus 979 - very light and Campagnolo Chorus equipped. My 25th wedding anniversary present from my beloved spouse, so cherished even more for that reason.....
Finally, the only other bicycle of French origin in my 'mainly English with a smattering of Italian, Spanish, German & American fleet' is this aluminium Y framed dual suspension Sky Jumper MTB - no recent photos, it now has Shimano Deore LX kit - good for thrashing around the woods behind our house.

Can't be... Now you mention it, I've never seen so much French bikes (nor entousiastic young racers!) as in El Maghreb... I was absolutely stunned by the sheer number of bikes in the old town of Marrakech, the amounts of clubs riding on the roads in the smaller villages and the general enthousiasm for cycling there. I wonder why we haven't heard of any major North African cyclist in the GT's lately.

Can't be... Now you mention it, I've never seen so much French bikes (nor entousiastic young racers!) as in El Maghreb... I was absolutely stunned by the sheer number of bikes in the old town of Marrakech, the amounts of clubs riding on the roads in the smaller villages and the general enthousiasm for cycling there. I wonder why we haven't heard of any major North African cyclist in the GT's lately.
In europe recycling companies and not for profit organization use to send bicycles in Africa
when out of order...everybody is digging for gold i guess but then you enjoy as well i guess.
True I have heard of brasilian and south american but very very few north african, dunno..

I suspect the bike was nowhere near that condition when "found in the bin". Most of Morroco isn't exactly the most affluent of areas in the world and a bike, C&V or not, in any condition would still be valued by enough people that it's almost unbelievable to think that a bike like that will ever end up in the trash and not be intercepted by anyone on its way there....... Unless the whole found in the bin thing was just a joke?? If the story is true, then the Morrocan C&V gods were really smiling at its new owner that day...... No matter what, that bike looks to be a very awesome find indeed! It looks gorgeous!

It was a joke indeed actually I found it next to the bin but not in marocco and not in that condition... a hell of work + troubles + money to finally get there... but kind of proud/happy now

As my old (1969) PAYAN has lost the St Christoph decal , typical on the bicycles builts by PAYAN (first pic), I have put on the saddle tube, a decal of St Christophe by LE TITIEN...a kind of artistic upgrade !
