Vitma It looks too close to me. You might want 28s for the increased traction on the dirt roads but that is where the stones are. If it is a little damp (not likely) you will wish you had the 25s because there will usually be stuff stuck on your tires. I've done the long route 3 times on 25s and will do it again this year.

I ran into a similar problem when I recently built the Colnago I plan to ride at Eroica CA. I managed to get a few millimeters of extra clearance by adding a washer which I filed at an angle to create a tilt to the brake assembly. I haven't noticed any negative affects to braking performance. I've ridden this bike on gravel trails without issues. However, with some rain forecast in CA over the next couple weeks, I'm a little concerned about clearance if mud is present, but I'll probably still proceed with the 30mm tires I have installed. At one of the previous Eroica CA's, I ran into a friend at Linn's Farm Store. The mud buildup on his rear tire had sanded a spot on the back of the seat tube down to bare metal on his otherwise fairly pristine Cinelli. YMMV.

I have one bike that I run tires close like that. I worry about picking something up on the tire and doing some damage .

@Vitma I have a similar fitment issue on one of my bikes. It always picks up pepper tree seeds and wedges them between tire and brake. If you install a second brake washer it will raise the brake, and provide you a bit more clearance.

I think I am all set o. This issue, see photo with 32mm tires. My issue will be my conditioning.

I am curious as to bikes with this issue, are they from the 1980's? It seems that's when race bikes started getting real tight. The Eroica I believe is modeled after a much early time , and thus different roads and bikes.

Welcome the the forum. Tell us about your bike(s) and what route you're riding. You can't post pictures until you make 10 posts, but you can create an album in your user profile an someone may link them here.

You can probably find on-street parking during the daytime. I'd park at near the north end of town, the further you go into town, the streets get narrow and it's busier. The nearest RV camping is a few miles north near San Simeon. I think a few forum members stayed there in 2019.

I scoured their webpage endlessly trying to find a reference to start times and finally decided to contact them and just ask. Their response was essentially “check our website” they could have simply answered my question with less effort. I did finally find it but it wasn’t easy or obvious.
This will be the first time for the wife and I and we are excited but also not terribly impressed.

Funny you should point me in that direction. Honestly, I have seen the CINO name but thought it to be some sort of club, so I sort of glossed by it. Might be a bit late for you to plan for, but Cino 2022 is July 8-10.

To be fair, Cino is a fairly modest affair with no international pretentions. It’s a lot easier to do a hometown ride in MT with fewer than 200 domestic attendees.
CA is brutal with regard to permits and regulations.
Having said that, Eroica CA could learn a LOT from Cino.
Like, how to treat customers and potential customers, how to communicate effectively, how to KEEP THE FREAKING WEBSITE CURRENT, and, you know, minor stuff like that.

Dang! We were really looking forward to the ride but more than anything, I wanted to show a bike to learn more about it and check out other classics. After not being able to register for it, I just figured they’d reached the limit for Concours entries and cut off registration. I emailed several times but the only response I received was a marketing questionnaire regarding the website experience. We decided to put off the trip and cancelled our great lodging reservations and made other plans.

Haven't posted here in a long while, and haven't ridden Eroica since 2016. But, looking forward to being there and seeing folks and some beautiful bikes. Have been battling a herniated disc, so will do the short route. Will probably ride the Cinelli, though tempted to ride Colnago, since they're a sponsor.....
