Passion is in the realm of the arts, not the mechanical world.
You sure go to the mechanics a lot.

Herb Boyer, the academic Scientist who had to be talked into co-founding Genentech by the intrepid aspiring venture capitalist Bob Swanson, used some of his pile of money to buy one of those. He'd stop by to visit sometimes, parking the Testarossa outside the offices in Building 1.

^^ doesn't get it.
Mileage-based service intervals come up quickly, when you drive a lot.
You sure go to the mechanics a lot.

Maybe Velo Vol is more passionate about brass instruments than bicycles?

But, today's visit was to follow up on an intermittent misfire they are troubleshooting.

Passion is in how you use the tools, not the tools themselves.

It has occurred to me recently that finding a house/neighborhood to retire in will require a fair bit of needle-threading to keep both of us happy. On the one hand, Mrs. GeneJockey wants a very walkable place, with everything readily at hand. On the other, I want to be able to ride from home without having to drive anywhere, on nice back roads with lots of nice trees and greenery (out here, during outdoor riding season, we have nice trees and brownery). Her preferences would pull us farther into the city, whereas mine would pull us farther out. I'm hoping that what we have here - the combination of walkability with rideability - is not unique to here.

Your trumpet is a mechanical device, by the way. It is incapable of doing anything by itself, just like a bike.

Process of elimination.
While in for regularly-scheduled maintenance, they eliminated a suspect. Spark plugs. They were due for replacement anyway.
Today, we eliminated ignition coils, cylinder compression or leakage. Injectors are the top candidate now.
Since I was waiting, they added a chemical treatment and I'll monitor the situation. Hopefully, it's just a dirty injector. We'll see.

Are musical instruments art, or the mechanical world? They're metal and wood and string, but I know for a fact most musicians get very attached to specific instruments.
Music is art, but instruments are not. By your standards, anyway.
