Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Washed my CAAD10 after a couple of pretty muddy/slushy commutes to work. Pretty much stock 105 except for the Ultegra pedals. I hadn't posted any pics of it since I had first purchased it last summer.

This CAAD7 has rear DA and everything else 6500. It loosk like 2003 model purchased in the end of 2002 for $2295 (have all papers from original owner).

I spend all morning trying to decide what to do... I did not find any significant difference between CAAD5 and CAAD7 in geometry or weight. (moved back and fourth wheelsets, pedals etc.) So there is not much sense to keep 2 bike with the color the only difference. CF Fuji rides is not the same ride and it is lighter. I will keep what I had...

Yes, I will keep the Mavics. I went to LBS with them to loose the bearings and mechanics told me they do not have any miles on them.

I will keep shoes, mavics, brand new Selle Italia Flite gel Flow Will put set of almost new Aksiums I have and and will sell it.

(but still very hard to do - This is so **ing new bike.. Maybe i do not need that SS Langster i have?)

This is Heidi, my 2004 CADD Optimo 1. Bought new in '04 and had done a few upgrades.
ITM 101 bar, stem and handlebar. 2007 HED Jet 50 clinchers. DA cranks, FD, cassette and chain. Ultegra 6500 RD, shifters and brakes with kool-stop salmon pads. Gore cables. Tacx Tao cages and Selle Flite classic saddle. Edge 500 computer. A joy to ride.
Will pull another one from the stable soon.
Cheers,
Rick in Tennessee

Hey guys, do me a favor and keep an eye out for a CAAD Optimo Track frame in 56/58. I need a new track frame, and they seem sharp.

Thanks, but I'm looking for one whom the owner doesn't think it's a collectors item.

It is time for cannondale to take the Caad to the next level and have at least make the top half in carbon or something.

Cannondale Advanced ALUMINUM Design.

Nah, I don't think it time for a carbon caad. You can keep your super sixes.

That's been done before, they called it the "Six13". The second incarnation was the "System Six".

Just to close the loop on a question posed a few pages back in case any other CAAD owners run into this issue. Look at my last post (post #16) for the answer.

Picked up a 2012 CAAD 8 6 today for my first road bike. Got a really good deal on it from my local bike shop. I love it! I did 16 miles today (fairly out of shape right now) and can't wait until I can pick up some clipless pedals, shoes, bottle cages, etc. at the end of the month.

Just because of evolution, the bike is too god to continue being where it is IMO, only because of that.

Their whole deal is Aluminum. CAAD is an acronym, that refers to Al.

They sell carbon bikes too, if you want one, get one.

Congrats on the bike, ride it and you will build your endurance. Get rid of all those reflectors. If you shop smartly you can get great deals on things like pedals, shoes, and things like that. I wouldn't wait to get bottle cages, just get some cheap ones, you need to stay hydrated on your rides.

Congrats! It seems like plenty of people diving into road cycling and the CAAD cult here recently (myself included).

+1 to shopping smart. I purchased my pedals and shoes for 50%. I had intended to purchase Speedplays, but with that price cut on Shimano pedals, I didn't think twice about it.

I can relate on the cages. I asked if he had any cages he could throw in for free, whether they be old, cheap, or used. He couldn't believe the question at first, "used?!", but I was dropping a lot of money and didn't want to drop another $30. I got an Elite Patao Alu cage out of the deal. Just one so far, but it's nice. I might buy a set of those when I get a full set. They are a bit heavier, but I don't see it breaking at any point ever.

+1 on removing the reflectors as well. (and just to be clear, I have removed the reflectors from my bike now )

Excellent first bike. Be sure to check out nashbar.com for deals. Oh and if you have a performance bike near you, they will match Nashbar's prices. That is how I got my 105 pedals for half off. Nice ride for sure.

Ditch the rear reflector and get a tail light (usb rechargeable ones are nice). You would not believe how much benefit you will get out of out of one, day or night riding. You have to think safety.
