Scranton Ross Grand Prix “very good”

https://scranton.craigslist.org/bik/...594171760.html

“This vintage Ross Grand Prix is in very good shape. All original except for the rubber on the rear rim.”

[img]blob:https://www.bikeforums.net/38ba0b51-a949-4ec1-9615-34432f48f708

Import fromJapan. There is more rust than steel at this stage. Bent fork AND bum bars.

Here you go - charge your car battery with your bike. 'Unique piece' indeed. Plus it's from Sears. Plus it's vintage. And only $50.https://southjersey.craigslist.org/b...616394716.html

$500 Schwann

condition: like new
make / manufacturer: schwinn
Very fast hybrid. I purchased faster wheels and tires for it. Call or text me for any questions about the bike. This bike is from before Schwann sold their name to Walmart.
Will probably fit a rider between 5'5" and 6'5"

Ridden 3 years and the rims and spokes were so fatigued that they had to be trashed? Methinks they were damaged by another mechanism.

I have an original 1972 Raleigh International, it was bought new in fayetteville
at scott garrow's in the fall of 1972 and ridden for about 3 years and parked.
it was overhauled in 1986 with campy grease and never rode. the rims and spokes
were removed due to fatigue, it has nos Mafac Competition brakes
the frame is about 58cm, both frame and fork are hand made with reynolds 531 tubing
with cut nervex chrome lug work and campy dropouts, bike is all original except
for the brake calipers and the seat, original dated 72" campagnolo nuovo record components
including the seatpost and large flange hubs, i have these extra parts to go with it

the original paint is in very nice condition and this bike has always been kept inside,

Way out of line on the price even if the bike were complete. The story is nonsense as well; the owner probably just trashed the wheels.

Afraid of boyfriends!? Yikes!

Mixte Peugeot

Fits a short rider. Girls who bring boyfriends along will scare me away!!! You will not get a testride if you try and sneak your boyfriend along.
I don't want to listen to your boyfriend talk trash about my bike. 90% of boyfriends will feel threatened by my good looks and do literally ANYTHING to make me look bad, so you won't dump them.
This goes for shy lesbians bringing their snobby partners as well!

Indeed. It was originally listed at $1200, in April of 2017, on the Raleigh CL, so perhaps we are observing a glacier paced movement to sanity?

Frustration Appears To Be The Mother Of Invention?

Trek Fuel EX8 Pricing ** POLL / SURVEY ** Nice Price, or Crack Pipe? - $20000 (CRAZY TOWN)

"We've all seen the ad for the 2011 Trek Fuel EX8 26" being offered (and re-offered daily) at $2,000. In the original post (https://charlotte.craigslist.org/bik...fuel-ex8-with/ show contact info .html) the seller claims it is "beautiful" and "awesome" and "upgraded."

We've also all seen several other posts warning that the book value on that bike is more like $650 (https://charlotte.craigslist.org/bik...fuel-ex8-with/ show contact info .html), and how it will never be worth anywhere close to four figures due to it's age, small wheels, old tech, etc... (https://charlotte.craigslist.org/bik...ks-are-better/ show contact info .html)

NOW, it's time to take a poll! EVERYONE place your vote. Who is right... Is $2,000 a Nice Price for this bike? Or is that a Crack Pipe? Vote Now! (link to PollDaddy survey, copy and paste into browser):

https://poll.fm/5z0jt

UPDATE: so far we are at 100% Crack Pipe (ZERO votes NP, and 18 - EIGHTEEN votes CP)

Here are some of my favorite emails:

"Crack pipe" - Jeremiah P.
Thanks for your email Jeremiah; but I can't add votes to the poll, so please make sure to vote online using the link above!

"Thank you for posting this." - Kent E.
You're welcome!

"I've been following your post from the beginning. What your are doing is very helpful. And now it's funny as well. Thanks" - Kevin C.
Much appreciated!

"This is hilarious. You are looking at closer to 1k tho, I sold an ex 9.7 26" that was 2700 new for 1100, same year. But I love the combative posts lol" - Ben B.
Sounds about right Ben, except I'm sure your 9.7 (with it's carbon frame, carbon crank, etc...) was much nicer than this 8 aluminum (dented) frame is. If this seller / OP was asking $800 "or REASONABLE offer" (and not re-posting the ad every single day) I wouldn't even have noticed.

"Why do you waste your time? If the price is too high, don't buy it. If someone else wants to pay that much fine." - Steven Bond
Well Mr. Bond, I suggest that YOU pay that much, to save the rest of us.

"What occupied your time before this silly listing appeared? Cancer research, right? Yeah, and there's still no cure for cancer." - Joel
I ride and race bicycles sometimes. As far as cancer, just because we don't have a cure yet doesn't mean we should stop trying!

"Thanks for the technical information. I'm interested in purchasing your bike, but every time I enter your location in "Crazytown" into my navapp, I just get the capital of North Carolina. Are you a legislator?" - Joel
Hey Joel, are you the same guy who thought I was researching cancer? That would be much more efficient use of time than legislator. I have much more hope for cancer research than for any changes in the CAPITOL (not capital). Also, I actually didn't come up with "CRAZY TOWN" and can't take credit... The post "ONLY $1500 OVER BOOK VALUE" was where I saw Crazy Town, I didn't write that post, it just caught my attention. Thanks, and it was good to hear from you again.

"Lmao Thanks for keeping the pressure on that nonsense" - Henry H.
You got it.

"Awesome post!" - Berton D
Thank you!

"Lol. These post and your repost crack me up. Just curious, has the OP seen your listing or responded to it?" - Austin T
Thanks, I'm not sure if the OP has seen these, unless he is Steven B or Joel...

"I'm with you man! Keep it up!" - Will M
Yes sir!"

So, show of hands, who knew that Huffy made a "titanium" bike? With a drink holder?

Um, it's $20,000..
Um, original ad:

18.5" Trek Fuel EX8 with upgrades! - $2000 (Waxhaw)

https://charlotte.craigslist.org/bik/d/185-trek-fuel-ex8-with/6623689346.html

(Perhaps the poster who found the $2k price tag problematic exaggerated for effect, or typo-ed? Who knows? For me the error was part of the "Wacky..." charm of the post.)

But this is a great ad for buyers. The seller does a poor job of selling the bike, and it looks to be a good bike, in good condition, and underpriced.
