The R3s do a lot of things right - responsive, light, stiff, and comfortable. You can't get all of those on most bikes and you certainly can't get one at Excel pricing. The R3SL was a closeout from R&A and I got the frameset for a smoking deal. I still have the original 3T fork, which is nice, but was a little porky.
I'm almost crash replaced the R3SL but Cervelo customer service basically told me not to. The R3SL is mechanical now with the 50mm Powertap psimets. I love it. Can't beat this sticker.

I do plan to upgrade to something new/better in next 1-2 years. Likely wireless Di2 if that comes out, or Etap AXS if not.

The Shimano issue? Yes, Shimano has issues as well, but I'd rather solve that with Shimano 11-speed or especially Di2 than the Sram wireless. I have friends who've crashed because of it, and the missed/ lagged shifts are well-documented. It seems like a very expensive way to solve a cable-eating issue that could also be solved other, more reliable ways. I wouldn't want one kind of issue for another, at high financial cost.

I’d have thought that they’d at least take cost of living index and shoot for a certain amount beyond that depending on where people live, but that number is as good as any. The trouble is, there may not be much of a small business pool left for people to spend their money at

My R3 was a little twitchy for me the first few rides, and I told myself that I wasn't sprinting on it for a little while. Of course, on a group ride last week, I saw one of the guys go for a sign, the first of the year, and I completely forgot about any reservations and I followed. Now that I'm (mostly) used to it, I like it, too.
