What fenders are those, if you don't mind me asking? (just had a very messy ride on my Vaya)

It is a little smaller than what I usually ride but have found it to be very comfortable... Will keep it until my wife moves here and will then sell it in pdx as I won't need it here. Now that I have a car I could just bring a winter bike with me just as I brought Forrest down for the summer.

Nice conversion. Is the paint really that clean, or is it a trick of the camera?

Camera trick. It's actually got a fair amount of minor scrapes and nicks. About what you'd expect for a 25 year old frame.

I may be adding some fenders to it soon. Even when the weather is dry, all the businesses I ride past leaving the train station have their sprinklers running at 6 a.m.

Here is my Sekai Bushmaster 80's vintage conversion to my winter rain bike. I used a mixture of new and old parts some LBS items some I had here at the house and others I bought online. The biggest change was when I spread the rear triangle so I could change from a 6 speed freewheel to a 7 speed cassette and I also changed to a sealed bottom bracket. I'm learning the quirks of this bike and I'm really starting to enjoy it.

I wouldn't let that thing out of my sight for a second. $$! (But I'm drooling over it all the same)

Does it have the cross top "interupter levers"? I understand that they don't work that great with disc brakes, but I love mine on my cantis.

I had levers like that on my Schwinn DBX, and it had disc brakes. Worked fine, too. I have them on my current canti-braked commuter and wouldn't hesitate to use them on my next commuter build (which would have discs again).

It doesn't have interrupter levers. I think the biggest problem with those levers, whether with cantilevers or discs is that they are a possible source of cable friction if you don't get the cable routing right. I took them off of my CX race bike, along with switching to Ripcord housing, and the difference in performance, using Shimano CX70 cantilevers, is astounding (probably mostly the Ripcord though).

I ordered some 26 x 2.35 Big Apples for the Surly Troll commuter build I was planning. I had difficulty getting the parts I wanted so I cancelled that build, but kept the tires for my old mtb. The fenders are a very tight fit. An initial test ride will have to wait until tomorrow.

And the way I transported the tires from the LBS.

A little work done to the Masi Speciale CX that I posted a while back. Ended up liking the frame so much, had it chopped, coupled, and powder coated. So, the commuter is now also the traveler.
