Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

reference was made to a bike someone ONCE owned, based on the post of that SS bmc, there's nothing to indicate that.

Thanks. At least one fellow member understands the comment on the former-road-bike-known-as-BMC.

Black brakes are in the pipeline. (Actually, Record 11 may be in the pipeline...) As is a seatpost to match the stem (need a little more setback...)

Fixed

Great bike by the way. Not a huge fan of Colnago's, but that one sure is pretty.

I think you all are over reacting. What would you do if you had a spare frame and 170mm crank?
I didn't strip my only road bike to go SS, I have been upgraded to the SLX01 and have no immediate budget for another gruppo.

There are plenty of ride opportunity's that I had been passing on because the pace is not fast enough and they don't go any significant distance.
When I show up on the geared bike I get attitude from other folks like I'm a snob or stuck up. I'm not. With the SS they think I'll be the one struggling to keep up, and I don't have to deal with the insecurity. So I get more miles and a nobody has to worry about their pride - except me, and I could care less - I just want to ride

I would sell it so someone could use it, or I'd hang onto it until I had some components to make a back-up bike.

I wouldn't make whatever that thing is.

Just posted a picture a couple pages back. But here is my bike with my brand new standard double crankset installed (just finished installing everything this morning!)

Forgive the ugly dirty bar tape. I haven't been keeping up on cleaning it. At least it looks well used!

There are plenty of reasons. I wanted something I can ride in bad weather, and I'd rather ride this frame with lesser skilled riders as they can and do cause crashes. I'd also like to use this setup to work on my spin.

Do you have enough chain on there? Did you add any chain?

I put a new chain on as well. The Triple I had on it Shimano doesn't recommend using with their directional chain.

So I put a brand new directional chain on. I used the big-big plus add a link like Sheldon Brown recommended to size the chain...

I am a bit of a rookie though. Does the chain look too short???

I should say I've tested every gear combination and it works flawlessly. I haven't been out for a ride yet on it though.
