I get what TT is saying, if you were sprinting in the drops, you'd probably have your elbows bent and your hands farther up in the drops, and hand wrapped around the bars farther so it wouldn't be as much of an issue, however, if you have big hands, I'd have to imagine the palm would be near or even on the seam.
Muffin: Your hand/arm looks stiff, don't be so stiff.
Also, the stem on the gray bike...not so much.

I had a (road) bike with sewn-on grips for a short while. Not sure if it was "right", but I hade laces facing out on the tops and then rotated to the inside side of the drops where it was out of the way...

Yeah, well I don't grip my bars like the Muffin Man does in his pic. He has his wrists rotated inwards, which looks mighty uncomfortable to me. I try to avoid any lateral joint rotations in my riding position. Ever wonder why it's so much better when climbing on hoods or horns, rather than risers or flat bars ?

The same way a traditional rubber bicycle grip is designed.

I'm with you on this one. Its like the laces on a football -- I want to feel them under my fingers!

I don't know about the rest of you but when I sprint I'm pulling up on my bars rather than pushing down on them.

Probably not for $8500, though. Vanilla is expensive, but it's not that expensive. You could build that bike new for less.
