This is the first bike I've owned since I was 10 or so and now I'm 29. Really loving single speed.

Takara Sugiyama with some upgrades.

thanks! yeah man, same here.

hah, its actually pretty scratched up and the seatpost clamp is cracked.

i plugged the holes and gave it a hot water/bar soap/washcloth bath though(thats when my fork decals faded, i wasnt rubbing on them necessarily - just some soapy water got on them and when i wiped it the color came off), and thoroughly dried it and oiled the raw metal parts lightly. it used to be super dirty.

im going to put the pedals, clips, cranks, seatpost and saddle ill be using on the bike and wear the thinnest-soled shoes i own/wear often, get the height and straightness perfect using a quick release seatpost binder with big washers and rubber gaskets, mark the post with a super fine black marker, then JB weld the **** out of the post and a new regular binder bolt, and tighten it reasonably tight without making the crack worse. should work. i weigh like 160.

i dont have the money or a trustworthy welder/brazer to try and actually fix the seat lug clamp. and then i dont have the money or know anyone to have it powder coated. this was supposed to be a cheap build but it ended up being really expensive(to me)

i dont understand what you mean by that but i doubt it would work. the lug aint tall enough for any kind of clamp. and i really dont want a quick release seatpost at all, thats how saddles get jacked. i live in flint. people jack anything they can. plus im not trying to mess up the paint, i just took all the time to clean it off all nice... i dont want to just saw parts off of it...

Decided to class up the thoroughbred with a brooks I received as part of a trade today
Blue bartape isn't cutting it. Headed to the thrift stores tomorrow to find a leather jacket to cut up for bartape. lol Finally got the setup dialed in. Can't wait for the season opener at the DLV next week!!!

Painful? nahhh. Uncomfortable? maybe. Longest race on the schedule is only 6 miles long so maybe 15 minutes of saddle time. I'm not worried about it.

the aluminum pake makes the nicest looking bike of all the aluminum frames you folks like to ride.

e: vvv no not like that, I just think its the round tubes and a nice colour set it apart from a crowd of several popular, very similar looking bikes. pink bike is cool as well.

I hear you. I'm not really a fan of huge overly-aero tubes either.
