It turned out to be a real cream puff! It was pretty grungy when I found it, but all original. I just went through it, servicing/cleaning it up and replacing consumables. I actually just finished up the refurb on this bike and that was a picture on my first outing, so I don't have much saddle time yet to comment on the gearing.

OK, here's what I got. An 1984 CIOCC Designer 84 w/ a mix of Campy, Ofmega & Modolo equipment. I got if from the original owner. We didn't know each other, but we likely crossed paths back in the mid 80's out in west Texas.

Also, seeing a lot of Silver looking Gray stuff here, maybe they should be combined and add another "color" to the list. Just sayin.

My point exactly, Silver is metallic grey, doesn't make sense to me to have a month for each.

Okay, so @BocaJr 's Trek 720 and @natterbury 's 612 on the "Show your Trek" thread are both called "pewter" in the respective Trek catalogs. Is that gray, or silver? We have a couple 730 frames of the same color, and to me, even with the metal flake Imron, they're gray. They would have to be lighter and glossier (and not from clear coat) to be considered silver. Granted, there are (bad pun alert) gray areas, but you can't call anything with any sort of gloss or metallic automatically silver. That would only leave battleship gray, pretty much.

Nice job! Anything notable in bringing it back to good service? I'm considering doing the same and wonder if keeping it original is the best idea? I'm leaning towards that.
Did you keep the Rigida rims and rear Helicomatic hub? Are those Cane Creek hoods? Are you using the original Dia-Compe Cantilevers? Do they work OK?
Which brake pads are you using? They look like Kool Stop Eagle 2s. I haven't been able to fit these in a way that they're correctly oriented but still allow for quick release wheel removal without the pads hitting the stays ... Nice Paselas. Any plans for fenders?

My 'dark pewter' 1984 Trek 620 looks to me like a medium gray with metallic fleck. The color became more attractive once 30+ years of grime was removed.

Thanks SM! Nothing outside of regular maintenance in bringing it back. All the original components were still in good shape, so I decided to stick with it. I guess the hardest thing was trying to get a good color match for chips/rust spots on the frame. That Dupont Imron in Dark Pewter was a hard match. It seems the metallic Imrom paint has sooo much metal flake!! I kept the rims and Helicomatic hub. The brake hoods are the Dia-Compe 204's. Yes, I went with the Kool Stop Eagle 2's and kept the DC cantis. I had the same problems fitting the brake pads and setting up the cantis.. Thinking about fenders with all that clearance at the fork and brake bridge.
