I saw bike parking lots at many train stations in NL that looked about the same. The parking at the Heidelberg, Germany Main Train Station when I used to go there was similar.
I'd feel like my bike was safe there. Sure it could still be stolen, but the odds of a thief picking YOUR bike are slim.

Way different than here where you see 1 bike outside a store every now and then

You classify people as binary/non binary?

This guy might try it...

But his bikes aren't identical. I hear it's much harder if the bikes match.

Saddle sniffing will probably be frowned upon. It's one of the reasons bikes have become a lot more colourful lately. Old ones are often spraypainted or the handelbars are full of plastic flowers. Front racks, baskets and tyres in all kinds of colours, but it makes sense to pick the colour of the plastic bag over the saddle carefully too. The traditional black bikes (muffled) are getting more rare anyway. But even without special colours, it's remarkably easy, allthough I have to admit I don't use the trainstation parkings a lot but every bike has a few individual features that aren't that hard to spot in a row. Probably the problem arises when you got your row and part of the parking wrong.

I've lost a few bikes in the past, in the sense that I couldn't remember where I had parked them, but never in a big bicycle parking.

Bikes: 2015 Ridley Fenix, 1983 Team Fuji, 2019 Marin Nail Trail 6

I have a matte black bike (Ridley Fenix, white letter Hed Ardennes wheels), I constantly get comments on it...nice bike..NICE BIKE!....That's the coolest bike I've ever seen!....I'd race that bike over mine any day, etc. I even get comments from riders riding much nicer bikes than mine. So I guess matte black bikes can be unique.

Me? With Ridley on every tube it can be on, along with the white wheel lettering, I think it looks like a rolling billboard, but I like the way it rides.

I think matte black bikes have become anything but unique. They are everywhere I look. My own is matte black. When I bought it I hated the matte but figured it would grow on me. It never did. I guess I'm old school, I like everything nice and shiny.

I think it's kind of a backlash to all the bright and neons of the 90s-00s. Especially the Road Cyclist / Racer set. You gotta be pretty fast to back up some of those team kit looks. At least in black, if you're not fast, you can still look Hard.
I blame Team SKY.
