Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I start on the left side, then when I reach the stem, I wrap around that, down the steer tube and continue taping along the top tube to protect it when locking up. I leave the right side of the bars un-wrapped (for street cred)

you likely should have waited for answers to your post in the "how to tape bullhorns" thread but of course the odds were good that you'd get gifed for necroing. i do sometimes wonder at the rush to chastise or ridicule newer users for what some old hands around here deem to be inane questions, posts, or threads. i guess it is more entertaining than giving a straight answer? which at least in this case could have helped op & quickly ended any further need for this thread? especially considering that c0urt's tutorial is somewhat ambiguous & his current flicker pictorial is about drops?

anyway, the simple answer is...either.

it seems most guys start at the barends & work inwards to the stem, then use tape to finish it off. personally, i use the method that i learned from carleton (which was pointed out to you previously) - start by the stem & work out...

The benefit to this method is that the top tube is grippy for when you need to carry the bike. Not to mention that the padding on the stem is helpful for holding on with your crotch while you superman skid.

Downside is that things are unbalanced for no handed track stands. But I don't do those.

There was no ridicule when he bumped Court's thread. He got his answers and I have merged the two threads
