My contribution to the world of cycling
Earth shattering; ground breaking: spray a little WD-40 in your air pump chuck and it will come off the *#$!%# valve without breaking the needle. I've broken two presta valves trying to work the chuck off in the last two months. I'm sure there's a good reason why I shouldn't be spraying a lubricant down into my inflation unit but I'm not interested in listening to sound reason at this point. Oh, and if you get some on your tread...get it off with a good coating of armorall <snicker><snicker>
I'll go back under my rock now.

I'm thinking of the responses you'd get posting in various sub-forums here:
A&S: WD-40 is not VC, you dumb no0b!
Mechanics: WD-40 is not lube, you dumb no0b!
Road: WD-40 is not OCP, turn up the power meter to 400W next time first, you dumb no0b!
Others?
Seriously... sounds clever to me, but what do I know?

I'd be worried that WD40 might degrade the rubber in the chuck. Does WD40 have any warnings re exposure to rubber, like gaskets, etc.?

What did people do before WD40?

Have you ever noticed this forum has a lot of cyclists with reading comprehension problems? I have.

How about screw on presta/schraeder valva adaptors? I am a klutz and they save me alot of aggravation.
Just a thought.

I think having problems with presta valve is related to what type of floor pump you have, I put a Topeak smart head on my pump and it made all the difference in the world.
