Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Huge Dinotte Sale This Weekend

I have both these lights. The tail light is the best by far, the headlight I mount on my helmet and it's also great. Here'e the e-mail I got. (I have no connection to Dinotte other than to say I love their products.)

Customer appreciation weekend. We're having a big sale on our AA headlight and AA taillight.

DiNotte Lighting invites all customers and non customers to participate in a very special offer. Starting on Friday at midnight we will have two items available at unprecedented prices.

DiNotte AA headlight - Our full featured 200 lumen headlight, standard 12 inch cord length, including the headlight, battery holder, and handlebar mount only (batteries, charger and helmet mount deleted) for a weekend only price of 99.00 USD + shipping and handling. (International orders MUST go EXPRESS mail)
Link: https://store.dinottelighting.com/Product55

DiNotte AA Taillight - The Taillight everyone raves about that never goes on sale is on sale this weekend only. System includes taillight engine, battery holder and taillight mount (batteries and charger deleted) $100.00 USD+ shipping and handling. (International orders MUST go EXPRESS mail)
Link: https://store.dinottelighting.com/Product56

If you have any questions regarding either of these products, please view our website and store.

This item is the perfect gift for someone who needs a light, a spare light. This sale starts on Friday at 12:01 am GMT and will run through Sunday. No other items will be on sale over the weekend and no substitutions can be made. Simply visit our website at www.dinottelighting.com and click on online store, then select Pro-Series (AA) Lights.

All product will ship Friday, Saturday and Monday. This is our premium product, not a factory second or last year's model.

No phone orders please. This offer is internet only and will not be extended. Any placed but unpaid orders will be canceled when the sale items are taken off of the web store.

Thank you
DiNotte Lighting

No charger or batteries, seems like you would be better off buying from Perfomance for $127.50, with the 15% off coupon. Thanks for the FYI.

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

I already have a charger or two and a dozen NiMH AA's, so I could do without buying more.

If it takes AA batteries, what is the charger for?

To charge rechargeable AA-sized batteries, of course.

A bonus is that, if you're stuck out there -- but still near civilization -- and your batteries run out, you can duck into a 7-11 and get a fresh set. Can't say the same for the special lithium-ion battery packs.

I have a love hate relationship with this light. I love how bright it is, but I hate that the one I have now is malfunctioning, and was never very reliable. I might just have to replace it.

Edit: Hey! I just tried it again, and now my light is working again! Yay!

Didn't it come with a warranty?

You can get rechargeable AA batteries anywhere. If they were to include a charger, it would probably be a very cheap charger that doesn't work very well. You're better off buying a smart charger elsewhere for $30 to $40. Your batteries will last much longer with a smart charger.

I'm not sure. I'm already on the replacement light though, which is having exactly the same issues as the original one. Now, it's been over a year, so I assumed it's out of warranty. Not actually sure though.

I was like who cares if they're small until I looked up the lumens of my much larger (and cheaper) Planet Bike Alias - 85 lumens at max. 200? Jeez. Anyone got pics of them on bikes at night to compare to "normal" lights? Thanks.

And how sturdy are these bad boys? Are they bright enough for night mtb trail riding too?

Various Issues:
  1. The light will arbitrarily turn off with no button presses.
  2. The light can not be turned off, even after disconnecting/reconnecting the batteries.
  3. Occasionally, it gets into this mood where the light just stays dim all the time, and if I connect the batteries, it will burn through a set in a matter of minutes.

I will say though, that when it is working, this is the sweetest tail light I've ever seen. However, if it's dark, I wouldn't leave home without a backup light, as I've been stranded once with no tail light (that would allow itself to be turned on) already.

Recursive: Dinotte is excellent. I'll bet if you call them, they'll swap it out again ... no charge. You're the first person I've ever heard have a problem. Their stuff has been bullet proof for me, and they upgraded my helmet light for $50. What a deal. Threw in battery cases and changed wiring for free.

You sure you aren't having battery connection problems?

does it still do all this with fresh, no rechargeable AA batts ? then there is a problem

rechargeable batteries in suspect condition can cause all this...so test with brandy new duracell normal batteries to make sure

I will say that I think dinotte overbuilt the light engine. too much can go wrong with the electronics. it has self test and all this jimmajamma going on. an on/off switch woulda been dead reliable. I got no complaint though

You sure you aren't having battery connection problems?
I'm not sure about anything regarding this light. I was figuring it was exposure to moisture. Have you used yours in wet conditions?

I've only ever used it with rechargable batteries. Although, some have been brand new. Next time it gets uppity I'll throw in some straight alkaline.

Recursive, storming rains and -5F blizzards. Never so much as a blip. The only times I have had problems have been the contacts to the battery pack. Tighten them up with my thumb and works perfectly. I always use rechargables.

I'm sure perf will catch up once stock runs out, but they are selling the barely old version. 120 lumens VS 200.

Here is a good review from MTBR.com

https://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=318820

They are plenty bright. I now run 2x200L on my bars and stopped using my olf 15w halogen helmet light. I outrun a car at night on a windy downhill hitting 43mph. It was a blast.
