Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: CAAD10/Wabi

Fresh bar tape, cables and a straightened RD hanger. Feels better than when I bought it.

Bikes: 1966 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist, 1973 Schwinn Varsity, 1983 Raleigh Marathon, 1994 Nishiki Sport XRS

Over the last six days I rode 200 miles. Tonight, the 7th day, was a day of rest.

Friday I did a "group" ride that turned out to be just me and one other rider. I got 37 miles on my trusty 2-speed (1983 Raleigh Marathon)

Saturday was my longest ride of the week; I rode my age (54 miles) on a breakfast ride plus bonus miles (1983 Raleigh Super Course).

Sunday was a group ride; got 30 miles in.

Monday I did only 15 miles (Super Course again).

Tuesday I rode 24 miles (1994 Nishiki Sport XRS).

Last night I did 40 on a group ride which included several Personal Records on Strava segments. I hung near the front of the pack for most of the ride and seemed better able to hang in front as the ride went on.

Took the granny gears out for a ride. My knee started to bother me after about 50 miles so I ended up taking the train back. Oh well, better than pushing it.

Had it sold this weekend but after going on a "'fairwell ride" - thank god I backed-out. The guy was really mad but I love this bike...

I'm assuming you chose a more traditional rando fork? Was there a wider disc fork with the usual geekhouse fork styling?

The fork is a classic Geekhouse fork in the sense that it is a segmented "Yo Marty". I asked for the curved blades for some aesthetic balance, since a high rake/low trail fork with straight blades on a bike my size looks pretty goofy. It's a nice fork.

Nearing 1k miles after having it up and running for a little less than a month - it is quite a good bicycle.

The machine I take when I go for rides with the roadies who care about like training and stuff. Got some sweet old Easton vintage carbon bars and seatpost (though the former will soon be swapped for some wider china crabon).

Ive been torn at the idea of doing what you did or doing a 650b swap on my Ironman.. Your bike is sick!

Love the Ironman. Yes to outdated bikes with sketchy carbon parts. And I've been loving this. I usually ride very wide risers on my commuter fixed gear, and my track bike, and and and… so I figured it made sense to bring it over to the road bike. It makes climbing really much more fun.

Nice. What brake levers are you using? This is one of 3 IM's that I have, the others are stock -- and the worst condition of the 3. So i'm thinking it would be fun to do a funky city bike/commuter bike. Being in Denver, I am leaning towards a 650b convo but swapping out bars would be much less $$..
