Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Not true! That CO2 weighs 44 AU per molecule. H2O is only 18 AU.

I'd be interested in trying that on my fix too. Do you know if there's any hills that would be killers on a fix?

I like mine. I swapped out the plastic cages for metal. Note my high quality, top of the line water bottle.

...that's twice today I could show off my bike, in a semi-relivent reply.

as far as i know, the course is relatively flat for TOSRV, but you'd still need to get into real good shape for a double-cent on a fixie.

I'll carry mine in my jersey. If I use the water bottle cage then I have too many options, I get confused, and crash into a tree.

On the molecular level this is true, but you are forgetting the bonding resutling from the polarized covalent bond of the H2O. This causes weak hydrogen bonds between molecules which in turn causes water to be heavier!

Codhesion is our friend. Without it water would be a gas and we would all be dead.

But per-mole (or any other numeric unit), water is lighter. Sure, CO2 is lighter as a gas, but then so is water. You can't drink gaseous CO2.

Duh.

Measuring in moles will only give you the sum of the molecular weight of each particle according to Avogadro's # and in no way relates to the volume that will be taken up by the particles at a particular pressure and temperature. So if you have equal volumes at room temperature at sea level then water is.... Whatever.

Enough is enough, this has gotten just plain silly.

Two years of pharmaceutical education coming back to haunt me me 8 years later. Sheesh.

My apologies for the total hijacking.
