I don't know if this can help you or not but Vincent Shim actually participates occasionally in the Fix Gear NYC facebook group
https://www.facebook.com/groups/3405...?ref=bookmarks
especially when he or his product gets called out

Maybe because for some odd reason Unknown does some decent business with their crappy bikes in NYC?

Join that group, tell them your story, and answer all their snarky questions/comments without sounding like a whiny biatch and I bet it will help your cause.

Good luck...

Thanks.. I'm just deciding exactly what I should do now tbh. Before I reach out to any more social media I should at least first let Unknown know about the mistake, and see what they say - if anything.

Depending on what options I'm left with it may be worth it to go that route.

I will check out the FB group and see what the general tone of things is, and maybe search for some of Vincent's posts..

I thought I had been screwed pretty badly by cycling companies in the past. Apparently it all could have been way worse. Take TimothyH's advice and get a chargeback through Visa before you type another word to those useless a&^%oles. They have had every opportunity to make things at least half-ways right with you, and they have continued to show how little they actually care to do that.

I can't understand how you're continuing to be so passive about this whole mess. I'm ready to drive up to LA and kick Vincent Shim's ass myself.

I know.. I guess cause I am even shocked to have received anything.

Do you own retro-gression? Stupid question but I've been so focused on this thread I haven't taken any time to research anything or post an intro.

I'm about to order some Phil Wood grease from you, how fast do you ship??

If it's faster than 2 months I won't be mad.

Let's be real. This is a case where we lead the horse to water, but whether to drink or not is up to the horse.

The OP is an adult and free to make his own decision. He originally came because he hadn't received anything, and got advice.

Now he's received product, and doesn't owe anybody an explanation about any decision he makes.

People ask for help and we offer whatever we choose to. But once we've done so, we can't be invested in whether they accept or reject that advice.

To the OP -- Best wishes that all this turns out OK for you and if you're keeping the bike, may it bring you years of joyous cycling.

You must be super fun to hang out with. Next time I'm in rural NY I'll hit you up so we can get together and over-rationalize things until we pass out.

I guess we know why they call themselves Unknown. You never know what you'll get. Might as well be Box of Chocolates Bike Co. It's also unknown when your stuff will arrive.

Sure, but it's not so rural here, less than 10 miles from NYC.

As for this thread, I'm not rationalizing. I just don't see why we should beat up the OP over something that is rightfully up to him and only him.

Asking strangers (or even friends and family) for advice doesn't obligate anyone to follow it.

Sorry, but when you post on the internet, then you are fair game for criticism.

Yes, I guess folks who post here are fair game for people who feel the need to criticize strangers over something where they don't have a stake.

Did you copy and paste the definition of an internet forum?

^^ I appreciate all the advice even the criticism!

So far the thread has been a huge help and, now - I will get my money or the correct product - I will find a way.

I'm pretty methodical with most things including situations like this, so I just do one thing at a time that's all, but yeah if you want to know I actually have a horrible temper when I get mad, I'm just not sure what good that will do me in this case - like if I get mad it's really mad and I expect damage to be done! lol... Or end up in jail so .. yeah I try not to.

I am really happy about all the attention this thread got! Many forums are not so friendly, and I'm not a huge forum poster, so I do truly appreciate everyone's responses and they all help me in some way - even the criticism, coming from people in the industry - it helps to gauge my expectation of say a bike sale over the internet

I never said it was, nor it is upstate by any stretch of the term.

However, not that Scrodzilla gives a damn, but there are still some pretty rural areas and working farms and orchards in the upper county.

There are even a few in the lower county. I live far down county, and until about 15 years ago I could walk to a local farm and buy fresh locally grown produce in season.

DC to Boston is all Megalopolis. Still got lots of kin up there.

Hope the OP gets his money back.

Peace.
