Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Not quite. Needs to be the even less common cable operated Bendix two speed, can't do it with a "kickback."

Nope, it has to be the even less common cable operated Bendix 2-speed. A kickback won't work.

From a quick inspection of the bendix kickback hub internals- it looks like you could fix it in the same way as the manual hub. Any guesses as to what riding that would be like?

How would you shift it?

Can you link me up to this? If that actually works I would definitely consider building one.

Bikes: Too Many

According to Val at bikesmith you use the bendix barmounted shifter. It is my understanding that the hub shifts the same as it would normally but the freewheel has been brazed together.
